how many quarts of oil?

How many quarts of oil does a 2016 street glide take with the filter?
The owners manual says 4,but every else says 3.5.

You will need 4 quarts but you will probably only use a little overs 3 1/2. Put in 3 1/2, run it for a minute then shut it off and check the level.

I always put 4 quarts in mine with a filter change. Many say run 3 1/2, but I personally would rather make sure I have enough rather than too little oil, especially after spending lots of cash on my hot rod motor. Having said that, I do get some blow by periodically whenever the oil filter gets saturated with oil, but I'm not 100% convinced that this is caused by running 4 quarts of oil either.

I put three quarts in mine a 2015 and unless they changed something in 2016 the book says to start with 3 quarts. (Page 149 of my book) Mine has always been right in the middle of the dip stick where the book shows it should be. I don't get any blow by either, and I don't add any more than the original 3 qts.

M8's take 4.5 but I always run 1/2 lower-No vapor blow by in the air cleaner either!

I start with 3 quarts, like the book says, then after running the engine I use the dip stick to measure a fill to just below the full marks.

I'm with OldMike. If the manufacturers suggested methods, as printed in the manual, are followed things always seem to work out fine.
