Can someone give me a straight yes or no answer to these 2 questions?

1) Will the Kappa 6.5's fit inside the white speaker pods?

2) Will the stock speaker grills work?

Thanks in advance.

Installed 62.11i speakers inside the white pods. Had to cut a bit out of 1 the other was fine. Used stock speaker grills. Cut screw tabs on inside so speakers sit flat inside the pod.

Yeah, I know that you can out them inside. A few people said they like the sound better on the outside, so I bought overpriced grills.

Just to "try things out" I tried installing the speakers outside the pods without speaker grills. I didn't like the close fit where the rubber speaker surround was rubbing and pinched by the fairing. That is why I decided against the overpriced grills and mounting the speakers inside the pods. I wanted the speakers to have room and didn't want the speaker surrounds rubbing.

For me, I can not really hear a difference in sound while cruising except for loudness.

I did the speaker pod modification and mounted them INSIDE the pods. Not that hard to do except for the 3 lower bolts were a PITA even with a swivel and extension.
Thanks everyone for the info.!!!

Was the sound quality greatly improved?

How does these sound over the Boom 6.5 with the Rockford Fosgate PBR300x2. I already ordered the Boom's :(

If the sound isn't that bad, I'll stick with my current set up.

After hooking the amp up I'm really happy with the sound. Plus still have money left for grips, linkage, etc.

I spent a lot of time experimenting with mine as it was winter and was doing several mods at the time.

I ran into the the same issue of my inner fairing contacting the speaker cone edge. I had already bought the Boom grills which make no difference as they contact the speaker cone also.

The Kappas cone diameter is a little larger than the stock speakers , also the frame is thicker is why I believe they make contact when mounted on the outside of the pods.

I ended up mounting them inside the pods , I build a gasket out of dense foam pipe insulation to seal the speakers rather than cutting the posts down as many claim they sound better mounted outside the pods. I did a side by side after I made the gasket and couldn't tell a difference.

My Kappas are arriving tomorrow. Having a discussion in another thread about how to hook up the the speakers. The kappas don't have the spade connectors for the factory harness, how did you hook yours up, or did you make a pig tail from the kappas and clamp a male spade connector to the end and plug that into factory harness?

I have overpriced grills and Kappa's were mounted on the outside of the pod, just replaced the speakers because the surround was rubbing the covers even more and eventually tore around the speaker about 4" on both sides. I mounted the new Kappa's on the inside, used silicone on the one side where the case does not seal completely then used silicone on the tiny holes at the bottom (probably for drainage) plus used polyfill in the pods and it sounds better than when they were mounted on the outside. I might pull the one pod and cut a bit out so it closes properly but it's really close now and it's a real PITA to pull so when I have to take the fairing off again I may jump in there.

I believe the larger diameter of the Kappa cones doesn't center up with the inner fairing cut outs. I couldn't mount them out side the pods and have the inner fairing cut out radius clear the 10:00 - 2:00 area of the speaker.
