Installed my 12" Yaffe Monkey Bars

BTW... the 12" Yaffe bars I have are NOT for 2014's... they are NOT relieved for the hyd clutch and work just fine... don't get SUCKED INTO the belief that you need the bar relief for the clutch on the 14's... they clears just fine.

Very good info. Thanks. Im doing the PY Monkey bars in a couple of months. Learned a lot from you all.

I just did my 2nd set of YMB on a Brother's 2014 SG.... If you have any questions... just ask.... just need patience... both mine and his took just under 4 hours each....

Looks great!! I'm thinking about getting a set of 14" yaffe bars for my 14. I have 12.5 wild one chubbys on now and already have the cables and wires setup for 14". Trying to decide if I wanna tackle it or get it done.

The amount of money they charge is insane!!! Take your time and do it yourself... it's not hard, just time consuming.

BIGGEST OBSTACLES:

Molex connector pin removal on TBW ( once you get the hang of it, it goes easy )

Feeding TBW/ hand controls thru right side... it takes a bit of finesse with YMB's

That's what I'm leaning toward right now. Might order me one here shortly as they are on back order as always.

Spazz what was your cost for all the parts doing it yourself? I am 6'2" and think I would need 14"s at least. I'm in reno as well

$38 for extensions kit from NAMZ and the bars were like $375... bottle of wire lube for $8... made a tool from a stainless dental pick for pin removal on the molex connector for the TBW harness...

I would go 14's as well...but you may need full length replacement extensions with 14's.... it would be really tough to run stock wires with extensions on them thru the bars with that funky bend at the point... its possible... but would be tough...

Spazz any chance you are available to let me check out your setup so I can decide if I should run 12 or 14"s?

Hey Spazz. How much were you able to rotate your 12s back toward you? Still tossed between 10" & 12" bars. What's the longest ride you've taken since installing the 12s? Any issues pop up as far as comfort?

If you can wait til tomorrow... I will take more pics and show you... that way I can give you a reference point

You bet. Thanks man.
Ok... a few shots with a tape measure for reference... if you need more... just ask in detail and I will take more...

This last pic... I was trying to show the 'gap' between the fairing groove and the bars. You can barely see it just above the 12vdc plug.

Thanks a lot Spazz. Great reference. Do you know off hand how wide your bars are from tip to tip? Any new aches or body issues with these on a long haul?

36.5" at the grip tips... that may change with style of grips though.

I have a bad shoulder... and on cold days as of late, it gets irratated. Starting physical therapy in about a week to correct some issues and strengthen it up before the good riding season.

The longest on these bars on warm days has been about 6 hours... no issues with shoulder, lower back, numbing fingers (grips fixed that) or any new complaints... I love them.

At 5'7"... the bars are level with my shoulders with a little slouch... correct posture ( upright )... slightly below shoulder level.

I appreciate all the Todd. It really helps a ton. Like I said earlier, I'm 5'8"ish and am trying to decide between 10" or 12" bars. I get the sting at the base of my neck and some numbing hands. Gonna have a chat with my chiropractor before I throw down the cash though. I guess I want function before fashion. Anything you would have done different as far components used? Thanks again!!!!!

Anytime brother.... Definitely talk to your chiropractor before you drop coin on the bars.... personally... I think the 12's would be better for you at 5'8" as the 10's may slouch you over... not as much at the stockers, but still. The more upright I sit, the better comfort I have... forcing the upright posture when I ride is tough, but when I catch myself slouching, I correct it and comfort level increases...

Great input. Hope ya don't mind if I bug ya again if or when I pull the trigger and do the install. Just can't see paying the dealer price on this.
