Hey folks, I just installed the rear saddle guard guards (90200787) on my 14 SG special. The install was very simple and easy to do but there were two pieces I needed to remove from under the seat and I am wondering what they are for? The instructions do not mention anything about them. Looking at the attached picture you can see the piece I am holding. You can also see the same piece at the top of the pic, that wasn't removed at the time. It looks like they reinforce the seat in place?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Looks like they are the front seat supports... at a glance.....maybe the height of the bag guard now supports the seat? Just a guess....

Yep, that's what I am thinking. I was trying to reuse them but no matter how I tried to place them, over or under the support brace, it just didn't fit correctly...

Yea I had the same piece left over. Think Spazz is right as the bars replace the spacer.

The parts schematic call them seat bumper kit, must be a frame protector from keeping seat rubbing or supporting the seat.
There proud of them too $20.24 for them with the bolts :)

I think I want those also, do you like them?

Well now I know what they are. Thanks

I like them VERY much. They are very subtle and don't really take away from the SG look at all. Of course I didn't get them for looks. I want to protect the saddle bags. I put 33K on my 06 Road King over 8 years, and had two "incidents" where I accidently dropped the bike. Lucky for me I was barely moving in both situations and the bike was untouched, not even a scratch. I want that same insurance on this bike! $200 bucks now is way cheaper then new or repainted saddle bags ;)

They are worth every penny... I don't have them yet... but I will get them.

I watched a 2014 SG go over and a side decline... rolled on the crashbar... and kept going until the entire weight of the bike was on the saddlebag and fairing ...and rear wheel was off the ground... not a pretty sight.
