I have looked at a few options for mounting my Power Vision on my 2018 SGS and I keep eyeballing the Iron Aces mount. I do have one very important question concerning this mount. Hopefully Iron Aces and/or some of the end users will chime in to answer.

Is it necessary to drill or file a half notch somewhere in the fairing or vent, in order to pass the communication cable through? Unless I'm missing something here, this is the only thing that makes sense to me. Will someone please post pics of your cable passthrough? Thanks

Subscribing as I'm interested too. Stock bars don't leave much (any) room to mount stuff other than on the lever perch. I want a pv just as a digital display (considering Dakota digital gauges) but I'd love to see the details with a iron aces mount so it's high and easily visble while riding.

First, thanks so much for your interest in our Rushmore Street Glide Mount for your '18 Street Glide. This is a super simple install; the Mount installs to the top of the inner fairing in front of the vent via 3M VHB adhesive. This adhesive is rated to hold up to 150lbs so it's more than suitable for your Power Vision. That said, I would recommend also getting the quick-release visor with your Power Vision as this will give you a quick, easy way to remove the Power Vision from the Mount when you are away from the bike. It also helps make the screen easier to read in the direct sunlight.

As for the power cable, while I do not have any photos of this, we have several customers that have routed the cable by making a small hole in the vent housing. Not sure how well this works but I do know it is an option to consider.

Hope all this helps but certainly let me know if you have any other questions about our Mounts.

Thanks Lindsey! I will certainly keep this mount in mind. Will there any discounts or special pricing available for forum members anytime soon?

I don't have the mount yet, but I did order it today. Here is what I did to get the cable through the vent.

I have this mount on my street glide and it works awesome. Got my Power vision from Fuel Moto and their mount and visor comes with it. Works really good for when you park somewhere you can take the PV off and put in your bags for security. One word of warning read the instruction for the install. My mistake of installing the tape below the recommended outside temps so it came loose on me. Was totally my fault but called Lindsey and she sent me a repair kit free of charge. Can't beat the customer service from Iron Aces have purchased several items from them and very happy with the items and service. If your looking for D&D exhaust Iron Aces was the cheapest of the 30 or so places I checked with like 400 dollars cheaper then most.

Always fun to catch up with Lindsey so I always call in my orders.

TomA, how did you pass your communication cable through? I searched, but couldn't find any pics. I was a little nervous about making the home, but it turned out nice.

Haven't had the time yet and a little nervous about cutting a hole in my vent but I have some days off coming in the next week. I like what you did to the vent and will do the same probably. Just hoping I have enough cable to keep it loose.

Thanks. Yes, the cable is barely long enough. What I did was connect the cable to the data port underneath the left side cover, run it down the wire tray and out the right front side of the tray, following the factory wiring. Next, I removed the plastic trim piece under the ignition switch (unplugging the two cables from the dummy switch housings), followed by the right speaker pod and the two screws holding the storage compartment in place. I then pulled the storage compartment out and to the left as far as I could and found, what seemed like the only place to fish the cable through and pulled it up between the voltmeter gauge and the tachometer. You will know you have the cable in the right place if your cable is on the right side of the storage compartment as you're facing the rear of the bike. Oh and btw, did I mention that all of this was a PITA to do? One last thing I forgot to mention is, you will have to use a Dremel to cut out one of the tabs holding the two halves of the vent together, because that is where you will need to drill your hole and make your slot. I hope this helps.

Great job with cutting the slot.....

A lot of work just to mount this...….but you have accomplished what you are after.... :)

Thanks for the heads up already ran it thru under the tank but may have to move it to the right side of the trough as I came up the left. Hasn't been warm enough until the last week or so haven't put the mount back on yet. Have a handle bar mount I have been using but it's in the way. Wish the plug end wasn't so big or unplugged for easier installation.

Thanks! This was certainly a lot of work to do this. If only Dynojet would make the cable about 2ft longer, it would be so much easier to install.

Ok, well I received my Iron Aces mount for my 2018 SGS yesterday. I also ordered the visor from Dynojet to use with my Power Vision and man...I had no idea that pairing the visor with the IA mount would be such a challenge. I used the supplied button head screws to attach the visor to the IA mount and when I went to snap the PV into the visor claws, I discovered that the screw heads make contact with the back of the PV. I was thinking of buying some allen type set screws to Loctite them flush into the visor screw inserts and use them as studs. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this problem? Pics would be appreciated if you have them. Thanks

Ain't the screws supposed to go in from the back, making the screw heads face away from the pv? This is how it would be mounted if you were attaching the pv straight to the mount.

That will work for the two top screws, but not for the bottom two, as there are nyloc nuts inserted into the bottom of the mount and the screws have to go in from the front of the visor mount. I found some screws with low profile heads today and will give them a try to see if they work. If it doesn't, then I will need to order some metric M4 set screws with a .70 thread pitch and that will take care of the problem.
