Is the 6.5 Head Unit worth it?

I am contemplating upgrade my 4.3 to the 6.5. I don't have confidence an aftermarket double din option will be available soon and I want the navigation without strapping my phone to the bars/dash.

My question is, is it worth it? I know when first released the GPS was slow and there was several issues. Are those fixed with the series of updates? I am going to be changing out my current amp/speaker set up for a soundz customs so I want to do it all at once.

I had the 6.5 radio along with a stage 4 Soundz set up. I was actually having issues blowing speakers because of the HD radio. Part of my winter upgrades included removing the 6.5 radio. I since installed a Sony single din. I'm going to be installing a Iron Aces phone mount on my fairing so that I can have GPS.

This is what I was thinking about getting...it's a single DIN nav unit but since it's not marine rated and I don't know of another way to protect it from the weather/washing I'm hesitant to pull the trigger.

I've used the my phone's GPS with my phone in my pocket and just bluetooth'd the audio to the bike and i'll reference the bike's map without using the onboard GPS.

I just replaced my 4.3 Boom with the 6.5
I got it brand new from an eBay seller for just over half what they cost new.

Really pleased with it so far although I certainly wouldn't pay full price for one. They're massively overpriced in my opinion.

The GPS works great on mine. I think its worth it just to have the GPS.

I too, have had zero issues with my Harley BOOM! 6.5. I have the full boat Stage II, and get lots of positive comments on sound quality... even from guys with badd a*s A/Market systems. I think the GPS NAV works just fine. There's something to be said for it at "trade in" or "for sale" time as well. NADA & KBB Statistics show that a bike with MoCo factory accessories yield higher dollars than a similar A/Market equipped motorcycle. But those H-D accessories are more expensive. That "H", & that "D" are big bucks parts of the alphabet.

Installed this kit on my scoot and couldn't be happier.. Finally figured a way to install a double din. This should be completed by April. My 6.5 is collecting dust somewhere

Well I like the stock system. I like the GPS and I have used the Zummo 650. The sound is good for me but there will be an upgrade in the future.
