Ok so I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new head pipe for my bike and I'm also looking at tuners I've got it narrowed down to 2 tuners V&H FP3 or the HD street tuner. Both the HD street tuner and the FP3 will auto tune out of the box with no extra parts required and both can Data log.
The FP3 use's your smart phone and looks to be more user friendly so to speak while the HD street tuner witch is laptop based and seams to be a little more hands on and looks like it has more features then the FP3.

I know there are guy's on the Forum that are using these unit's so I'm looking for some imput pro's/con's

I'm kinda leaning toward the HD controller as a mechanic / motorhead I have played around with tuning fuel injected car's for years and I'm somewhat familiar with laptop based tuning software

Fluffy,

The FP3 has a demo mode on the app after you download it.... since you are a motorhead you should enjoy messing with the tables in the demo mode. I am only familiar with the FP3 and don't know much of the HD tuner you speak of. I do know that I love the ease and simplicity of the FP3.

It works well... plain and simple. IF you feel the need to adjust any settings, you can. For you own curiousity... just download the app and enter the demo mode and play with the tables. I have no experience with 'tuning on a dyno' and don't want to get into too much trouble messing with the tables, though I have thought about it for a few reasons in the past, but never did.

Having a laptop over a phone may be better for some reasons... overall interface would be the biggest advantage I see.... but you can't carry a laptop with you on the road ( so to speak )

Thanks Spazz I already have the demo FP3 app loaded on my I phone and I have been playing around with it seams to be very simple and straight forward to use
I also have the link to the HD tuner training page on my laptop and have been getting familiar with that tuner also Hulkss thread on the HD tuner is what got me looking into that tuner
I don't really plan to go and change fuel and timing maps per say my self I would just pick a base map for my mods and then auto tune both of these tuners do that.
What I'm more interested in is being able to read and clear DTC code's and viewing live sensor data witch would help me trouble shoot problem's once my warranty run's out I will try and fix my bike first before I would take it to the dealer I'm sure I would be happy with either one of these tuners

Take a look at the Dynojet Power Vision 2. That's what I have and your last paragraph got my attention. The PV2 will read and clear DTC codes and read live sensor data.

PV2 yea the gauges are great to monitor different senors while riding besides being able to buy multi bike licenses on one device.
