**Loose valve seats in Milwaukee Eight heads**

While researching head options for my M8, I uncovered a couple of interesting videos regarding loose valve seats in the stock M8 heads. I had recently leaned towards buying SE CNC heads because they would be the most cost effective option. However, I would hate to spend $1300 on SE heads and have this be a potential problem, which would require having to spend more money to correct the problem. This is quite concerning and makes me want to just have my heads worked by a reputable company just for piece of mind. Here, have a look at the videos.

The CNC heads probably get a little more attention at the factory. After re-building heads more than once, I'm convinced OEM parts are best.

If you decide to have your heads worked then consider Dan Vance Racing. My nephew had used him for his FXR several years ago and it's a rocket. I sent my 2016 heads to Dan last November after exchanging several email with him about my riding style and the cams I already had (Wood 555). Installed an S&S 110 kit, HPi 58mm Throttle Body, ThunderMax, and Dan's head work. I have only about 1200 miles since the rebuild, but I am loving this bike. I'll dyno it some day, but the numbers aren't important to me since it is running really well. It's so responsive that the throttle feels almost "twitchy", but that's how I like it.

I called Fuel Moto today and asked a tech, at what power level did they see the need to perform CNC port work on heads. He told me that they don't do anything to the heads until they get into the 120 big bore kits that make 140 hp and 140 tq. Having said that, it sounds like I could get by with just adding heavy duty valve springs to my stock heads and calling it good. I struggle a lot with just doing what needs to be done vs. what extra can be done. Maybe it's because of the level of difficulty involved to do certain mods; such as in this case, removing and replacing the heads. This makes me want to get all I can get out of them performance wise the first time around, so that I don't have to do it again down the road.
 
The four valve heads are plenty good. I would not use a cam that needs stiffer springs. Don't put in parts that add load and stress to the valve train with every revolution of the motor regardless of throttle and rpm. Been there, done that.
