I found some HD Lowers off a 2013 Ultra on CL for 200.00 and am ready to pull the trigger and get them. But someone said to me "Be sure you like them. I thought "What's not to like" Are there really ant disadvantages? It got me wondering?? How do you feel about yours or would you get them if you had the chance??

I really like mine. I had them on my 2012 and bought them for my 2017. (I still have them from my 2012 and am looking to sell them soon.)

I've had both the soft lowers and the hard lowers. I just ordered color matched Hard lower's for my 2017 Street Glide Special in Velocity Red. For me they are worth it and I like the looks.

I have the soft lowers. I don't care for the looks of them but they help a lot. I'd like to have a set of hard lowers for my 2013 SG but hate to pay the price. If I could find a deal on them I'd get them.

My 2010 Ultra Classis was the first bike out of many that had the hard lowers on it. To me it made a big difference so much so that I just ordered the color matched lowers for my 2016 Street Glide Special...

I have never had them before, I test drove a CVO with them the other day in 30 degree weather with Khaki's on expecting to freeze but didn't. Ran on the interstate and back roads for about 15 miles.

So, I went ahead and got them. Couldn't go wrong with the 200.00 price tag for a set of Harley lowers. Now to find the painter again to get the color matched. Hopefully it wont be that much, still better than buying new. Seemed like i got a bit more heat off the motor while at stops with them on, then when I didn't have them. After the ride I realized I needed to adjust the highway pegs one more time.

I put a set of lowers on my 2009 SG this year and I would not take them off. My friend with a 2016 SG drove mine and decided to order up a color matched set for his bike.

I bought a set from ebay, installed it and never took it off. I got it mainly for the wind protection but soon found out the added bonus of holding two more speakers. I like them and will not remove them. On the downside, you will feel a little more heat in the summer. sgfang.jpg

I have a pair but have not put them on. Being in Florida, I do wonder about heat buildup. Any problems with over heating with lowers in hot climates?

Well Hawaii does not get quite as humid like FL. I only overheated once and thats because i was in a parade. My fault. Since then i have installed a Lenale cooling fan which is good for the engine but makes me hotter at stops.

I live in florida also, I ride with guys that have hard lowers and I have rode a few hundred miles with them and they had no issues. Besides having a little more heat from the motor hit them. Took ride 2 today with them on today. I think they will grow on me. And the good thing is they come on and off in a snap if I change my mind. And when I get them color matched, I will have the only charcoal denim streety in the panhandle with a detachable tour pack and hard lowers..

I'm going with what Mojo's saying because I haven't had a chance to ride mine since I installed the geezer glide conversion kit. But I'm hoping I like it, but the removable parts are nice just in case.

I've got the soft lowers! I really like the way they cut the whole me when
It's cold out. I'm waiting to upgrade my lowers to the hard style when I get a new bike

Food for thought. Back in Feb I bought a set of Factory Fairing lowers (Great product!) but by the time I got them, paid shipping and had them color matched-they cost almost as much as color matched OEM with my 15% discount!
Needless to say I put OEM's on my new 2017 SGS and love them and the way they look!

Tip: I always go for the quick take off hardware for them as well.

Mojo, do you still use (or need) the HD fork mounted wind deflectors "fork fangs" along with lowers? On my 2015 SGS, when I added HD auxiliary lighting my HD fork fangs had to go, unfortunately. I've considered the aftermarket deflectors Hulkss is using, but haven't ruled out adding lowers like you've installed and I can get the 15% discount. I ride in cold weather fairly often and fully endorse the function of the fork fangs.

Iron Horse- When I put the hard lowers on my 2014 in Feb. I took off the fork deflectors. I found later leaving them ON along with the hard lowers helped buffeting that the hard lowers create. So in answer to your question-I have both on the scoot now. I now have an extra set to sell.

Mojo...I am attempting to imitate my 2010 Ultra. I had that set up just right for highway riding and almost no wind buffeting. Not only did I order the color matched fairings in Cosmic Blue Pearl but also the adjustable side fairing mounted air deflectors like I had on the Ultra. I too got the quick disconnect although I don't see myself taking the lowers off.
