I had the magic boxes installed about a year, I was happy with them. I did have to keep the gain down on the amp, music with heavy (deep) bass tones didn't sound good at all. But otherwise I other wise I happy with it.
Today I replaced the magic boxes with bike tronics line levelers, what an improvement, the abilty to adjust the gain on the line leveler is awesome. I feel like it improved loudness, bass tone and high tones. With the ability to adjust HPF and gain it's definitely a step above magic box line leveler.

had a set of magic box Garbage waist of money ,cost me $25 to have the radio flashed at the dealer wy waist money on line levelers

If I am expanding to 4 speakers with a 4-channel amp, do I need 2 Biketronics line levelers?

I would recommend having your system flashed for a 4 channel hook up, but no you would still only need one with Y splitter.

That would depend on the amp and it's capabilities... some amps will let you run 2 channels in to have 4 channels out. I have the ARC XDI600.4 and only run 2 channel inputs and have 6 speakers out... 4 from front channels ( in parallel) and 2 from rear channels. Now granted... no fader control, but if you tune it right, you don't need one.

That is a good point. I am going with the PN4.1000D, will have to check into it.

Is there any degradation using a y splitter if the amp is not capable? Thanks!

I also went from the magic box to the bt355 line levelers. Wow, what a difference. The gain and brightness and bass of the bt355's are a huge improvement. BUT, I was satisfied with the magic boxes for almost 2 years. Just didnt know something better was out there. Still playing with all the pots on the amp and line leveler to get the right sound for me.
