It doesn't have to be fancy, it just has to work and it looks cost effective too. ;) Will be watching for videos as a GoPro is on my shopping list.

yup... no fancy junk for this mount... just needs to work and be somewhat discreet.... uploading a raw video now..... no editing at all... strictly raw footage.... 2:56 minutes worth

48fps and Field of View set to MEDIUM.... wide test will be tomorrow when I head to Virginia City.

That is one way to drink and drive. Sit at your computer with a cold one!!

HOLY CRAP!!! you scared me!!! cuz I'm sitting here drinkin a Corona right now!!! Thought you tapped into my web cam.... LOL!!!!

Anyway..... here is the video

48fps and MEDIUM Field of View.... completely raw footage and no editing....

EDIT:

HOLY CRAP!!! What a degradation of video quality that YouTube displays..... on my 55" TV.... it's 1080P HD and VIVID... that looks like crap.... gonna have to find a better server....

Nice stable picture, does the camera have image stabilization? If not then that's a good spot for the mount, I've heard some guys say a handlebar mount gets a bit of vibration in the picture.

Well that looked pretty sweet.

A little off topic but just so you know those red octagons mean you are supposed to stop. Lol we will have to go ride with that on now so we can show some good racing on highway 49

Out-of-the-box settings with no picture stabilizer control that I know of.... lol.... its brand new and haven't figure 'everything' out just yet. Bars would get way too much movement. Tried a mount on the crashbar, but it's too far back and the bike takes up 50% of the viewing window on the right side... not good.....

This is a PERFECT spot for the mount.

LOL.... you must be in Cali.... as those Red signs are actually yield signs over the hill here in Reno.... just follow the bubblegum machines... LOL!!!!

And yea.... HWY 49 is on my list to video for sure... luckily the speedo isn't in view....

Are you watching the video with the tapatalk app? For some reason every video I've ever watched on it puts everything in low quality. Wish I knew why, because I can go up to 1080 with the native YouTube app on my phone...

Actually... this happened on my PC.... I guess I should change my statement... as I reopened the video and the replay was MUCH MUCH better.....

Yeah it does that. If you watched it on YouTube right after uploading, the full quality wasn't completely processed yet. I think it can take up to an hour after the original upload for that. Threw me off the first time I noticed it.

It did it again this morning.... strange... Almost like the graphics card isn't processing the quality correctly every time I view it.

I will have another video to upload later this afternoon.... Running to Virginia City at 10am... nice, curvy mountain road. I am playin with GoPro Studios right now to get the hang of it...

Spazz, quality looks just fine on my computer as well. I dig the mounting position. It definitely seems to make for a much more stabilized picture than these helmet mounted videos!

Spazz, Is the camera mount just using the self adhesive to hold itself to the foam backed stainless? You worried the adhesive will wear off? Are you going to attach some sort of security mechanism so that if it lets go, you don't lose the camera down the road? Just thinking ahead, as I like your idea because it's cheaper until it falls off. ;)

The GoPro comes with a few different bases... one is curved for like a helmet mount and the one I used is flat. The 3M mounting tape is SUPER durable and will not come of easy from the stainless mount I made.... this stuff is the bomb. ( already installed on mount ). As for a tethering system... yes... I will have a security tether installed... how.... not sure yet, but it's coming.

I am pretty confident in the mounting, though you can't be too sure.... it's not a cheap camera by any means... lol.

Keep in mind that this is the FIRST attempt and any improvements I make I will surely pass on.

This is a GREAT way to have a removeable mount and literally comes off in under a minute.... I may end up permanently mounting a Gopro base on my can in that location though....you never know.... they are pretty small... plus... when I do my chrome lowers, I may go to a black can which the mount will 'blend in' nicely.

One more thing I should share.... there is only ONE WAY the camera slides into the mount. ( didn't notice this at first ) The way I have it oriented, the camera slides DOWN INTO the base. This would be VERY important to note before permanently attaching ANY base... anywhere.

I did buy a handlebar mount that works on the crashbar and bag bars as well.... I may mount it rear facing at some point in the future for another Virginia City run thru the mountains and play within the Studio an scab a cool video together for fun.

Sometimes on my computer, video quality will be automatically set to low based on network performance. If I need something in high quality, I'll just click the little gear on the bottom right and max out the quality on that.

Also, forgot to say that your video looks good, I like the mounting position for the camera. I think you might have forgotten that red means stop though lol
