On July1 I was awoken to the beginning of my nightmare. I was awoken by a fellow rider whose bike was damaged and my bike being totalled by a runaway milk truck crossing 7 lanes and 3 curbs. Then began 2-½ months arguing with both my insurance and other party insurance about just totalling out my ride to get a new one. Well it didn't happen. I've got a new frame and a whole new front end. Bike basically was rebuilt from the ground up. Called my Lawyer as I was pissed that my bike wasn't a total loss and may be stuck with a lemon now. After conserdable consideration and lots of emails he recommended we go with a Montana attorney. Called one and to my luck it's a relative of the guy who ran my bike over. Called another and basically got no response. Still waiting for the 3rd one to call me back. Been 3 weeks now. So now I've just come to the conclusion I'm screwed. This guys neglect just cost me approx 40% value of my bike if I were to try and sell it. End of April I paid $32,000 for my ride as it stands. Now it's worth maybe $20,000 3 months after I picked it up.
But now for some good news. Big Sky Harley promised me that my bike will be exactly like new guaranteed. They put their most experienced tech on my bike. Their service manager and him went in fine detail on every single part that came off. If it looked odd it was replaced. And they have told me if at any time a situation arises to bring it back to them.
Now the best news. Tommorow at 7 am I leave for a 4hr drive to go pick it up and finally get to bring it home. It's been 18 days since we returned the rental bikes and I am stoked to get back on MY ride again. Here's a few pics of the transformation to how it looks as of 5pm today.
