NAV Screen question for my SG Buds

All with the 6.5 Boombox:
In the upper right side in most HD screen shots, I see A capitol "N" indicating the compass and true north. On my screen I see a brown solid triangle that when pushed changes the map size with a () symbol center screen.
Question- How/where do I rid the screen of this and change it to the compass symbol. Also-has anyone noticed that when you change the target icon to the motorcycle symbol, it changes back on a restart?

I haven't dug into this yet but my buddy is playing with things I will ask him. He has changed the 2 flags at the bottom left and right to Air Temp and soemthing else already.
