I just ordered my new J&m 180 w 2 channel amp from direct cycle parts(who is a sponsor for the forum) to push my boom fairing speakers, I know it will not compete with some of the high end systems like some of the guys here have but It should give me a good punch compared to not having an amp at all before.

Crumb,
Let me know how this works out as this is about what I would want to do to my bike. I don't always listen to music when I ride so I can't see spending big $$$$$ on sound equipment. If you like it maybe I could hook up with you during riding season and have a listen to your upgrade. We are only about 40 miles apart so it would be convienient as I trip to Benson often in the summer to hoist a few.

Crumb, John will treat you right.
I have a J&M 250w 2 channel system that I am very happy with. I ran it with my stock speakers for about 4 months & it worked just fine. Then I did upgrade my speakers to the J&M 6.65 speakers.
I had to call J&M a couple of times during my install of my Amp about some Questions that I had & they walked me right through it. I have been very happy with there service & there Amp & Speakers. I can hear my Stereo at 5/8 volume at 70mph with ear plugs in wearing my 1/2 helmet.

JMeadows- My Rokker system from J&M (our sponsor above) will be here Friday! I ordered it Tuesday after talking with John several times. By the way folks IF you're interested, John has a 20% Street GLide Forums discount if you email him.
I got the kit with the 250w Amp and the 6.65 fairing speakers. The kit:
# RXEK-250SP2-14SG includes everything you need to do an install.

Blues, I'm sure we can get together to take a listen. I was going to to with the 250w, but jmjohn didn't think the boom speakers would last so I went with the 180 which should be a significant upgrade. I can't wait to get it in. Btw you can't beat direct cycle parts prices!

++1 on that !

Just my 2 cents, if your going to add a amp why you wouldnt add a 4 channel just in case you want to add down the road. Because once you add your amp to run the fairing speakers that will not be good enough. Then you would want to add to the lids or lowers, then you will have to buy another amp w/4 channels. Dang you Spazz!!!! :D

Mojo - That's the same system that I have, you will be very pleased with it.

not my fault!?!?! Lol!!!!

Its snowing and Santa came again today ! My J&M System landed on my doorstep and that is "music to my ears". C.mon SUMMER !

Yessir!!! And TomA got his done at Chester's for free... not sure if that was because of me or not.... seriously... I don't know. It only takes about 10-15 minutes tops

Mojo... IF I am not mistaken... J&M systems are pre-tuned ( DSP internal programming ) to use WITHOUT a flash... better double-check that. Not 100% sure....

Don't be scared Mojo I was but after watching Spazz all is good in the universe it was kind of easy. I know it helped get his done in half the time it took mine because of the learning curve he went through helping me.

Very true Tom.... I told you... I like doing MINE first BEFORE helping others out... but it sure was nice to tear into mine knowing everything I needed to know... THANKS for being the guinea pig.. lol!!

Spazz . . . . Actually with this system: flash the ECM (4 SPEAKERS, AMPS 1&2 OFF, Enable Fader).

Actually TomA- It's gone quite well so far. The most frustrating thing I've found is getting all those wire looms organized and back into place. I worked a couple hours today very slowly (lots of rain - sleet - snow going on) just taking my time and rethinking each step as I went. I'll finish it up before I leave for LA Monday.
As soon as the weather breaks, I'll get it into the dealer for the ECM update. Spazz's video and long distance assistance was a big help too.

We know all about the slow as you go discuss it before it happens. Seemed like it took for ever but I'm not sure a professional could have done it as clean. A lot of thought was put into every thing we did and a professional would have just gone for it to save time on several little issues. Relocating the hidden antenna for one along with the GPS antenna move took time and thought. Wishing now we would have just left the hidden antenna out it's a POS.

I hear ya- I have it too but . . . .
A. I never listen to the radio at all anyway.
B. I hate jockeying around the whip antenna.

Its a shame we can't get a POC* before we end up with a POS !

*Proof of Concept
