After much searching through these posts I pulled the trigger and purchased a new audio system from Soundz Customz. My package came in the other day and I have been reading and watching video on the install. I keep reading the HD flash needs to be done before the installation, however I cant get an appointment for another 2 weeks. Its absolutely killing me to have the box of parts and not install any of it. My questions is, other than sound quality is there any other reason to wait until I get the flash done to install the new system?

My audio system is working well but I have question. I have stage II speakers with speakers also in the bags. When I go to set up and move the fader to rear speakers to adjust the fader, I notice when I shut down the bike and go to restart, the fader goes back to the center position and I have to reposition the fader every time for a great sound. Is this normal? I think I have the latest software but will check anyway. Thanks
Mike

Buy a flash drive at Walmart for less than $10 Google online how to flash the boom box system. Good instructions online I've done it myself twice easy to do. And I am not a computer geek. Good luck hey what's up system did you get. I'm looking at the arc 600.4 amplifier for my boom box infotainment Center

I believe flashing it yourself will only update the system, you'll need a tech to flash your system to add speakers and amps. At least that's what I gather from all the reading I've been doing.

Have you called another dealer? It only takes them about 15 mins if that for the flash. When I did mine one dealer wanted me to drop off the bike for a complete day, the one I took it to did it on the spot. You don't want to have your speakers playing for 2 weeks with out the flash. Congrats on choosing Soundz, which set up did you get?

The dealer close to me said they will not flash for an aftermarket system. I have a local shop that is a certified Harley mechanic who does all my service but he is busy this time of year.

I ended up with the level III, can't wait to set it up. Looks like I need to wait. That was the one and only time I call the dealer for anything.

I bet your local shop would do it if they did the install, some dealers are a pain. That's another reason why I removed my HD radio. Hopefully your Indy can squeeze you in sooner.

Mrudnick...

Your system is working correctly.

"It's really not a huge deal is it? It takes all of 7 seconds if you're slow, to reset the fader".

I asked the Harley-Davidson factory audio rep about that at my dealer's AUDIO WORKSHOP about 2 months ago. The above quote is how he responded. He noted it as a "suggestion" to try & make it fixed (once it is set). Sent me an email a week later saying that they've had zero complaints about THAT particular aspect of BOOM II upgrade. No plans to make that part of a future update. He said I was the first to even mention it...

I would highly recommend getting the flash done BEFORE you install your Soundz system. It is way too tempting to 'turn it up' and without the recommend flash, you can possibly damage a component of your system. Even though you are required to do the 10 or so hours of ' break-in' period at flat bass/treble and no more than 50-60% volume, you will still be tempted... TRUST ME on this.

IF your INDY has Digital Tech... GREAT!!! wait for him.... or raise a stink at HD or go to another one.

As Bryan stated... its all of 15 minutes to hook up to Digital Tech and check the appropriate boxes. I have even done it myself at my local HD on my 15RGS.

Just ensure you give whoever is doing your flash, the flash instructions provided with your system from Peter.... it is imperative to have them do EXACTLY what the sheet says to have your system perform at its optimum... WHY? ( you might ask ) Peter and his crew tune these systems to work with flash they provide you instructions for BEFORE they box it up and send it to you. So if your flash is not EXACT, you could be lacking the performance it was tuned for.

Thanks for your input, I am going to wait for my appointment. He has all the right equipment and is doing other work for me then anyway. I just don't trust the dealer monkeys.

The flash is the thing you have to do with Peters system. Had mine flashed the first time and the wrong boxes were checked and it sounded like crap over half volume. I was not a happy camper travel 230 miles and the re-flash with Spazz's help and oh my it rocks.

I decided to go with this system after watching Spazz YouTube videos, cant wait to get it done. You guys are a huge help to us that are new to the Harley word.

I just ordered the new Biketronics package with the amp and pro speakers (BT7P14 Pro Speaker and BT2180 Amp Package). Did a lot of reading and I think this was the best system for me and my budget plus I like the fact that no flash needed and a lifetime warranty. I am hoping this is the system for me. Looking for crisp sound and I want to be able to hear it at 80mph without having to crank it and it getting distorted.

Glide Life
Thanks for your response. It really isn't a big deal just thought I would ask. Something else to do before I ride.

I learned this was the wrong flash type of flash sorry guys

So I just got a arc MOTO 600.4 and Hertz HCX 165 and thanks to Spazz and his awesome YouTube video! I was able to modify my speaker pods!!! So now I just need to know what to tell the dealer to flash my system to? I didn't know I needed to flash it first so I get distortion above 1/3-1/2 volume I just want it crisp and clean like yours Spazz!

Hopefully you haven't damaged anything. You can't run Power into Power, so the flash tells the bike which amp to use for what speaker assignment. This IS NOT the Boom audio flash for software upgrades.

I would stop using your stereo until you get the programing straight. I would e-mail the Dealer you got the system from and ask for the instructions for your system to give to the HD Dealer. I would also recommend you watch what they do. John at J&M recommended that I watch, and sure enough he went through and was clicking what he thought was right even when holding the directions in his hand.

Soundz recommends 2 amp on and 8 speakers on. That's what mine is flashed as. I have Focal KRC 165 speakers and Arc XDI 600.4 amp. Sounds amazing.
