Hello all. I currently own a 2016 Harley Dyna switchback, I am ready for something new. Having trouble deciding between a Road Glide and a Street Glide. Help me out here. Rode metrics from 69 to last year, I think the Street Glide is a ahead by a nose. Want to hear what you all have to say. Also, what are the best and first mod's after the exhaust? Thank you for any input.

Welcome to the fun and I may be bias but the Street for me

I think you need to go down and test ride both to make a full decision. There's a reason why I haven't been on a road glide yet. Because I'm afraid I'd want one even more

If you do exhaust. You need to do a tuner. If you don't have led light do that
And then work on making it more comfy for you

Street Glide Special and add cams, air cleaner, exhaust and tuner for outstanding performance. After you get those mods done, consider moving on to stereo upgrades (speakers and a good amp). There are just so many things to do to these motorcycles to make them fit one's taste. When I bought mine, I started out with exhaust, an air cleaner, tuner and stereo upgrades. That lasted for 3500 miles and I removed the engine and gave it a bump up to a 107ci, plus lots of other mods. I am extremely pleased with my motorcycle now.

The two bikes are within $300 of each other. There really isn't that much difference between them. It boils down to whether you want a fixed fairing or not. To me, a fixed fairing where the handlebars move inside is very strange. The Road Glide can look good from certain angles, but then from other angles, it's a face only a momma could love ;)

It's personal preference, really.

Go for the Street Glide special....put on some slip-ons, a few bling stuff, new led lights...maybe a tourpak, stretched bags...and save up for your next bike.

Was at the Harley Dealer yesterday for bike night, and the cute sales gal came up to the wife and I. Got to talking, and she says she just bought a Road Glide the day before. This gal is very small. Probably weights 110 lbs. Great rider though. I've seen her maneuver huge bikes in the dealership before on the showroom floor, and she's a pro. Anyway, I asked her why she went with the RG vs the SG. She said on the SG when she corners, she really feels the weight of the fairing, and since the fairing on the RG is more mounted to the frame, she said it's easier for her to control. Never heard that explanation before. Makes sense for someone her size. I don't even notice that phenomenon with the SG. Suppose if I rode both bikes back to back I might tell a difference, but since it isn't an issue for me, the classic look of the SG is my preference

I have a buddy of mine up in Washington state that has a Victory with a frame mounted fairing. It was a very nice bike for touring...very little wind buffeting...I enjoyed riding it but my SGS is a cross between a touring bike like that and an all-out road demon like the RK...or a Dyna.....its a little of both worlds. And thats what I like about the Street Glide...

New guy here.
