Hello, New member here looking for a new ride and some advice. Just sold my Road King, have owned many bikes from crotch rockets to gold wings to ultra glide.

I like the RK but i found myself trying to turn it into an SG with the addition of a batwing and radio, better seat etc. I'm 6' 3" and I have to say I felt a bit cramped on the RK versus Ultra.

Looking for input on the SG, all I've heard is the rear suspension had issues with riding 2 up. No idea if that's still the case but I've heard there are aftermarket fixes.

My wife and I like to take off for weekends so comfort is important, she's pushing for another ultra (barcalounger).

Talk me into or out of it!

Thanks

I have a SGS and love it, haven't had the wife ride on it yet so I can't tell you about 2 up riding. The SGS does have better rear shocks then the SG so I would choose the SGS over the SG, there is also several other upgrades that make it worth it also. Sounds like you like the look of the SG so I would choose that vs an Ultra. You can always change the seat for her comfort.

I have the 2014 SGS and ride 2 up with my wifey. Added a backrest for her and found ourselves a bumpy country highway and adjusted the shocks til it felt good for the 2 of us. Easy enough to adjust as you just remove the bag and dial it up or down. We still need a new seat as we are currently using the stock, but no complaints here yet.

Comfort is top notch... I let my bride pick a seat and backrest for HER... that way she has no reason to complain on 400-500 mile trips. Your best bet is to set up a demo ride and FEEL tje comfort for yourself. You cant go wrong with a SG

Thanks for all the great input. I have test ridden an SG a couple of years ago, at a Victory dealer lol. I rode 2 Victories, then the SG, and I was like, thanks but no thanks guys, the H-D just feels better to me. I'll have to go try a newer one.

You can make the SGS an ultra really fast by adding a seat and removable tour pack so maybe look at that route then get the back rest and luggage for shorter rides. That's my plan anyway.

TomA and Spazz are right. Get the SGS and a Tourpak with removable hardware, Use HD's Demo Seat Program to let your honey pick what's most comfortable to her. When riding 2up, add the new seat and tourpak. When you wanna ride single, take 10 minutes to remove the Tourpak and put the stock seat on and your good to go!
