Long time lurker, first time poster here from East Texas - up around Paris, TX. I've only been riding for two years and am looking to upgrade my bike. I currently ride a Buell, and I will be buying a '14 & up Street Glide Special this week.

I see a large Dallas presence on the forum and I'm hoping to meet up with a bunch of y'all this season.

I have a few questions, and if y'all could point me to the proper section of the forum to post them, I'd appreciate it:
I see a fair number of SGS available in DFW. What is a great price OTD for a stock '14/'15 SGS with ~10k miles? Most of what I'm seeing are listed for ~$17.5-18.5k.

I've worked a local HD dealer down to $18k OTD for an ultra clean, stock '14 SGS with a day maker and LED turn signals/tails, but it has 30k miles... Should I be worried about the high mileage? That's the only concern holding me up since I ride roughly 10-15k miles per year.

there's a lot of glides 14-16 for sale, if i were buying if i had to pay more than 16.5 i would by a 2017 payments would not be that much more. check blue book prices, look at prices on ebay, i bought mine in you area at American motorcycles with tour pal day maker, and stage 1 already don't, just over 17k one year ago.

Might check out Dream Machine locally also. Friend found a good deal there.
I'd play the 6 HD dealers against one another here... just a thought.

There are a lot of 14-5-16's for sale right now as many upgraded to M8's.

N e g o t i a t e !!!!!!

Thanks for all the info. I used your info and ended up making a sweet deal, but backed out at the last minute when I found a better offer. I got a 2017 with stage 1 and only 800 miles for under $20 OTD from Texoma Harley in Sherman, TX.

Welcome to the forum....A friend of mine just picked up a'16 with 5k miles in SoCal for $16k.......had a lot of upgrades also including Rhineharts. Of course I was the one who negotiated the price.....

Welcome to SGF, now you that you have the bike-hide your wallet or . . . . all receipts from your wife!!!

Ain't that the truth!!! Already putting money into it during the first week! Trying to reduce buffeting, so I bought a variety of deflectors. The wife will get her upgrades on the bike - nice cushion-y seat, nice backrest, etc - so she can't get on me too much for putting a few dollars into it lol

I've posted my Anti-Buffeting package before but I'll do it again:

1. Recurve windshield (Clearview for me).
2. Adjustable Fairing Wing deflectors (Appx $26 on Amazon).
3. Chrome Fork Deflectors.
4. Triple tree deflector (Made by Kuryakin for 2017's - $27 on Amazon).

This kicked Buffetings Butt ! ! ! !

I did the Triple Tree wind deflector also...made a world of difference at highway speeds...fork fangs are next!

Mojo, I purchased all of those items yesterday, with the exception of a windshield - I tested several heights and they did squat, even a 8".

Don't overlook the brand and style of shield, it makes a bug difference! For me, the HD Windsplitter didn't do the job and they're expensive! I have had such good luck with the Re Curve models from Clearview!

Tried the klockwerks and windsplitter in all available sizes and didn't do anything. For me, the wind hits the top of my helmet and feels laminar with the stock shield. Wind from the sides is much more forceful and turbulent. I just mounted the adjustable deflectors to the fairing and the lower triple tree deflector today, but it's raining so it'll have to wait to test! I should get the fork fangs on Monday from JES.

Would like to hear your results Brandon. I'm putting together my plan of attack against the buffetting myself. (Was at a HD dealership today talking to a sales guy. He tried to tell me that he experiences no buffetting on his entirely stock glide. Seriously?!??)
