Hello all. I just found this site and am enthused to learn more about what you have done to your Streetglides.

How can i make my bike better than it already is (can't go wrong with an HD in my opinion:cool:). but would like to try!

Currently my bike is completely stock. I recently purchased a high flow HD air kit. I believe I need to change the exhaust to get better performance (ie make it run cooler, getting more fuel into the motor and alleviating the humongous lean condition from factory setup due to EPA standards). I also am told that a tuner will need to be installed.

So for my first post, in addition to introducing myself, was looking for opinions on tuners (I think I want to go with the SE race tuner) and true dual exhaust system options. I am not looking for louder sound, just better cooling and efficiency. Also, I don't have to have more HP not torque, but I would not be opposed to increases, though I would like the same fuel economy or better.

Anyway, thanks for having me!

Welcome from Northern VA. Me personally I would stay away from thee race tuner, only reason is because you have to go to HD to tune it. I went with the Power Vision that I got from Fuel Moto, which they preprogrammed for my set up, but it's easy enough for me to change also. For exhaust I went with Rush 4" big Louie, not real loud, sounds good and has the look I was after.

Well you can use the race tuner but you have to purchase the cable and download the software but agree it's kinda useless...

Much easier with a Power Vision or VH3 that do the same thing

Welcome to the fun. Not sure if your a hands on guy or have the shop do it kind of guy but the options are almost endless for exhaust and tuners. If you like making it work yourself I hear good things about the V&N fp3 (I think) and a lot have the power vision and several other tuners out there.

Good luck in your search and have fun doing it. There is a lot of support here from the members if you have an issue

Your right wildchld you can get the cable and software, however I haven't heard of anyone having success doing it that way.

Thanks to all. To let you know something about me, I am not real hands on besides doing fluid changes or minor fixes or modifications. I try to realize my limitations before I start. I would rather pay someone to do what I want. I have found that I tend to spend more money when I do large jobs myself.

I have a friend who has a shop, dyno, and the cables needed for the race tuner. He can definitely set my bike right with whatever changes I want to make. He has stated to me that other fuel management systems tend to piggy-back the ECM, where as the race tuner "flashes" the new setting over the old ECM settings. He says that if you piggy-back, this can cause confusion within the ECM. I am sure that I have not conveyed his thoughts correctly(lacking the knowledge), but he is steering me towards the SE tuner.

Hopefully I can get some more suggestions on exhaust recommendations. Thanks again to all. Love the forum so far!

Does anyone have suggestions on best places to buy parts? 1 supplier or multiple? Who has the best prices and customer service?

Welcome from Reno, NV

There are so many options for exhaust systems, it can make your head spin. Sounds like you are looking for a good setup for looks and sounds and not too much on performance. Adding slip-ons to your current system and possibly a new header pipe ( or De-cat your stock one for less heat ) is the cheapest way you can go. Now There are slip-ons that work well with a stock head pipe that sound really good and have a performance gain as well with a tune. Your biggest decision is what you want it to look like and sound like at this point. Take your time and look and listen to several bikes that you like the sound of... and then research a bit ( ask the owner a few questions ) and see what you come up with. There are so many out there... take your time and get what you want.. no sense in doing it twice.

As far as best prices.... best web prices I have yet to find with AWESOME customer service is www.ironacesspeedshop.com They are a registered vendor here on the forum and Lindsey is awesome to work with. Jeff at www.coastalmoto.com is also a vendor on the forum with great pricing as well.... These two are just ones I have dealt with, but there are more in the Sponser's Forum where they always list there stuff.
