New project for the street glide. La Sancha..

Well if you know me personally, you know I like to do as much stuff I can myself. Like working on it, doing little thinks to set it apart from the others, to making parts myself also when I can.
Well this is a making something project. I'm making a aluminum licence plate frame out of 7075 aluminum stock.
I know it's easy to just buy one but I like doing it and this one will be different from those. Here are some pictures of the start of it.

Will do. I got a little more done on it today but not much as the wife had stuff I needed to do. Lol

Well got more done on it. That's pretty much the final shape just need to round off the corners. Then it will be time to thin it down and make the pocket on the back side for the plate to fit in.

Thats a thick chunk of material there, nice work so far. Be nice to see the final result.

Well it's just about done now. After a lot of chips fling and a crap load of aluminum its to it's final shape and size. The weight was 1 lb 13oz when I started, now it's 6.5oz. I milled out a pocket for the plate to sit in flush with the back. I know more will come off after I wet sand it and polish it. I'm thinking about doing some hand carving in it as well.

Well it's finished. Unless I get the tools and courage up to hand carve it like I'd like to. I did all the wet sanding on it today and hand polished it. It's not perfect yet but will get smoother and more shiny with more polishing. I'm happy with how it has turned out.
