A 2007 harley has a spark knock control system called "Ion Sense" developed by Delphi. It will only work correctly with the stock plugs and wires.

Was that system widely used? Do you happen to know when HD stopped using it and why? I’m just curious.

As far as I know, Ion Sense is on all fuel injected twin cam engines. It was replaced with dedicated knock sensors on the M8 engine.
