Hi from chilly ND! Looks like this is the forum I need to be a member of! Traded my 09 FLHTCU for a 2014 FLHXS last monday!! Won't be here until January, But with snow on the ground I won't be doing any riding soon anyway!! Ordered it Amber Whiskey color. Having the stage 1 upgrade done before it's delivered. Had 4" Rineharts on the ultra and loved them so will use them on the SGS, but not sure what head pipes to use for true duals. Looking for suggestions!! Also ordered Agitator Wheels and Chrome front forks. I'll post pics when I get her!!

Hey there & welcome... I've got a 12SG and I put the V&H Dresser Duals on mine. I put the V&H Twin Slash Round mufflers on and really like the sound!

Congrats on the new bike! I just had dresser duals and twin slash rounds put on mine this Saturday. They are a little louder than I wanted (during take off) but still sound great especially when cruising. I'll try posting a picture of them tomorrow. You can go on the V&H web site and listen to them. Here's the dresser duals with twin slash rounds

Thanks Guys!! went to V&H site and listened to the video. U r right they do sound great and I like the looks of the pipes! Did anybody run a dyno before and after to check performance? And yes bill we do have some snow!! hopefully we'll get some warmer weather so get goes away! If it gets to the upper 30s I'll ride if the roads clear! haven't missed a month in over 3 years!!

Hi, I'm from Chaska, MN. I used to live in New Jersey and rode the Polar Bear Grand Tour each winter. Made every weekend one year. Not nearly as cold as North Dakota or Minnesota though.

I've read that the stock head pipes work fine unless you want the bike louder. The Catalytic Converter takes out some sound, but on the good side, it helps midrange torque a bit. I put Harley Street Cannon mufflers on mine.

hulkss would be correct that the stock pipes would work fine, my brother left his on and has the twin slash mufflers and it sounds great without being too loud. I'm going to give my setup some time before I decide if I want to put the stock pipes back on or not. I didn't dyno mine as I wasn't looking to make more power, I just wanted the better sound/look really. If I get some free time this week I'll try making a short video as well.

Was at the dealer this morning and got to listen to a few bikes with different pipes and mufflers. have a little time till the bike gets here for final decision but i'm leaning towards the V/H dresser pipes and the 4" monster ovals. Love the sound!!

I have some heated gear to lenghten my riding season, i've ridden in the 20's, not to go to far but just to say "I did"!!

Welcome from minnesnowta.

Check out some cfr slip on mufflers. They have a very low deep big block v8 sound. Go to youtube and do this search. Cfr vs stock

Im saving up for a set myself.

The sound of a Harley is a big part of the experience and a personal preference thing for shure. In any case, H-D takes it very seriously. Check out this post in my Blog: http://streetglide.com/entry.php?23-The-Harley-Sound
