I remember an old motorcycle shop recommending straight weight oil (SAE 60) instead of 20w-50 during the hot summer months. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Not sure if i would go 60 weight but i run straight 50 in mine all the time....i don't ride in the snow so i really don't need a multi grade

Yeah, I moved south so now no more cold weather riding. Spoke with Amsoil, which is all I use, and they said SAE 60 isn't needed. The 20w-50 works very good for the hot weather.

I use Spectro 25W60.

Starts nice in the cooler mornings and offers the protection of a straight 60 for the hot summer months.

As a side benefit, the engine runs quieter because of the 60 side of the oi.
