Well I was all excited when the brown truck showed up today with new painted lowers.

That excitement was quickly halted when I figured out that you can't use the SE Heavy Breather air filter (P/N 29400173) with lowers. If you want to you'll have to get this one P/N 28716-10 ($329) which is shorter and for use with bikes with lowers. Ugh, well it's only money as they say, might as well get the quick release kit too ;)

The HD directions suck, basically a parts diagram, not that hard to figure out though, patience is the key as always.

The good news is they look great in Daytona Blue and only took about 3 weeks to get from Manchester HD.

Scott14SG- your post might very well help someone else here. Sorry for your troubles but thanks for posting!

Hopefully it does save someone else from getting the wrong Air Cleaner Mojo, I'm more frustrated I didn't get to install them and go for a ride before our daily afternoon rain ;) I'll sell the old AC to help offset the cost so it won't be so bad in the end.

So are you returning your SE Heavy Breather or you potentially looking to sell it?

I'll sell the one I have now, it's this one Might be a week or two before I can get it done, have a busy schedule starting Monday and I need to verify that the new part will bolt up, HD parts web site says it fits Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTCU so I'm hoping it will bolt right up to a FLHX.

Here's an update;

After a little research I found that air filter #28714-10 & rain sock #28715-10 will work with this AC mount and lowers, but just barely. That part is only the air filter from an entire AC kit. There's about 1/2" between the front of the AC filter and the lowers, so if you want to run this setup you won't have much use of the right side glove box. For now that's fine with me as I put these on mainly for the rainy season, but that may change down the road.

You'll have to remove the 3 allen screws holding on the round pipe section, install the lowers, put new filter on the pipe section and reinstall the 3 allen screws. I never did find out if part #28716-10 ($329 entire AC kit) will fit the FLHX or not.

I am absolutely going to get the quick release kit for the lowers, the bottom mounting piece (8) pretty much sucks. Fairly easy to assemble the lowers unless you don't read the directions like I did, even then it isn't rocket science. You can't see it too well in the pictures but these are vented lowers.

Sorry for the one picture showing up sideways.
