Passenger Backrest Questions

I have a 2008 Glide. I ordered up the quick release sissy bar and a backrest directly through my HD dealer. They had the sissy bar in stock but had to order the backrest pad. The sissy bar snapped right on as the previous owner had it all set up already.
The pad came this week and I have a question.
The sissy bar does not have the 3 welded on mounting brackets for the backrest pad. It's just the hoop. The pad came with 3 screws, 3 spacers, 1 plate and of course the pad.
So does the pad and mounting plate just sandwich the hoop of the sissy bar or is there another part I'll need?

If it's like mine, the pad has a recess in the back that mirrors the bar it's attaching to. Feel the back of the pad and see if you can feel the recess. The pad should have 3 screw locations in it and if not, there's a issue. A couple photos posted might be helpful.

No it is recessed in like you say. I just found it odd that is would mount that way.
I am going to get it on tonight after work. It should be fine, I hope.

Mine had the recess, might take it back and make sure they ordered the one for your bike model.

I put the back rest on and it's a perfect fit. I didn't realize that as I tighten the screws it would form fully to the sissy bar. It's a great fit.
