I have never heard of this happening to anyone and probably should not happen. I was riding home from work and ran thru a bad rain storm. Turned into a gas station to get out the rain and fill up while there. As o turned in my complete dash cluster went dead, I turned the main ignition switch off and the bike kept running. Flipped the switch a couple times and bike still kept running. Flipped the other kill switch and bike still kept running. Slapped the handlebar and motor shut off and gauges jumped. Filled up with gas. Turned all switches back on and nothing. Could not start the bike. Hit the right hand grip with my fist a couple times and the dash lit up and then went out again. Finally got the bike to start, rode home with dash flickering on and off the whole way, a red light coming on and check engine light came on. Any ideas on where the water is getting to effect the bike like this.

The red light you see is the check engine light. The BCM or ECM was throwing codes which can be read and diagnosed at your HD dealer. You can read these codes and clear them yourself but you have to have the electronic service manual to interpret them.

Search the codes with Google. I bet you come up with the definitions

Rain is bad.

I pulled the switch covers off and no water in them. Pulled the front fairing and there was some water behind but nothing that looked like it would interrupt the electronics. Blew a little air in the switches and in the fairing area and everything started working fine. All engine and ecm lights cleared. Bike started right up and idled perfect. Even when I was hitting on the handlebar everything stayed on. Radio controls and all switches working fine. There had to be a drop of water somewhere causing this but I couldn't find it. Just glad it seems to be all back to normal. I'll ride it to work on the morning and see how it does. That is 52 miles one way to test and see.

Good luck with that brother hoping all dried out and you will be all good. Not sure what got wet but it would be hard for the dealer to find now too. You may run by and have them check your error codes just maybe give a clue to what happened.

It is looking like it is an electrical problem. May not have anything to do with the rain at all except for coincidentally started during a rain. Made it to work. Everything seemed fine till I got close to work. Then it acted up. Dry morning. I parked and noticed if I turn the handlebars it would clear up and then act up again. Thinking maybe a bad connection or loose ground. I'll check it later today.
