I don’t know if bikes are the same, but I’ve bought a couple cars bak after insurance totaled them. They paid me, then bought the car bak... it was something like 10% of what they paid me to buy it bak. With a salvage title of course. Chris

I thought of it, but I have a sneaky suspicion the frame was tweaked. There's just no way that the other stuff, bags bars and fairing, equals enough to make it not worth repairing.

Well, it's best as nothing ever feel the same after such incident, however you'll feel sad to let it go after spending time in the saddle with it for so long. Hope you find another ride and get it setup the way you want it soon....

Oh don't worry I've been looking. The 2018 specials are sexy as eff though not cheap. there's a few 2017s in the valley worth looking at. I think it would be smart to let my back heal and have this all behind me before I jump back on, but I'm itching to ride again. Soon enough! At the most, I'll wait till I get my tax return so I can have a good down payment plus some left over for accessories. With that said, I could definitely afford a 2018 special today. Decisions decisions.

Well back in the saddle! Got a 2018 standard with everything the specials have, minus the cosmetics. Those 18 specials are damn sexy but dealers are asking 3k over the standard, even when equipped with the touch screen and abs. Plus, I saw a special today where the head pipe had a big chunk of black paint missing like someone's boot knocked it off. That had me worried enough to make up my mind (the price difference sure helped too)

I've got some money left over to get her set up the way I want. Mirrors will be really soon (aka probably tomorrow after work. Fairing mirrors are cool of you want to see your knuckles) and I'll order bag guards soon. After that it's lights and seat. I promised my mom I'll visit as soon as they're free of that white slippery stuff so I gotta get her ready!

Very nice- Do yourself a riding comfort favor and replace the windshield pronto. Many options like Long Ride Shields and Clearview (mine).

Oh I'm aware. I still have a 8" untinted clearview. Unfortunately I gave away my 8" dark smoke LRS shield oh well! They're cheap.
