I would like to know myself this stuff pisses me off. It's like asking a question over the CB radio and you get 10 thousand different answers. ALL though hertz speakers are the best and the biggest $$$

I had the Rockford PBR 300x4 amp install along with Polk speakers, it wasn't bad, but I knew there was better so I upgraded to an Arc XDI 600x4 along with Focal speakers. If your budget alongs I would recommend going with an Arc amp and no you don't have to use the magic box. If you don't use the magic box then you will have to have your radio flashed.

I have installed the pbr 300x4 with hertz 6.5 speakers thought it was loud until the magic box was installed with it , what a difference it made. At 80 mph with afull face helmet the radio can be heard clear

johnny v did u have the readio flashed before u did the magig box. if u did did they set it up as 4 speakers without amp or 4 speakers with amp. thanks

No I did not have the radio flashed , but if you want four or more speakers then a flash is necessary unless the speakers are wired in series or parallel.

Anytime you add an aftermarket amp you either need to have the radio flashed or add the magic box. By flashing the radio its setting the EQ curve to flat, you want it flashed to show 4 or 8 speakers with no amp.

What is this magic box you speak of? I have put a fosgate amp and hertz speakers on my 12 streetglide.

"Magic Box" and needing to be flashed are new phenomenons applicable only to the 2014 and later Radios.......you're good!!

MAGIC BOX link above is for 2014 and 2015.... NOT your 2012....

Used in the newer Boom Audio to flatten out the curve of the DSP ( Digital Signal Processor ) built into the Boom Audio head unit when you want to run an aftermarket amp.

I would definitely go for the dealer flash to turn off the factory signal processing vs using even more signal processing to try and undo it.

when installing just about any brand amplifier to your system, other than Harley Boom, you want the radio flashed as it come stock, or if it has already been flashed for the Harley Boom amp, have your dealer flash it back as """"" 4 or 8 speakers, Amps 1&2 OFF, enable Fader""""""

complete info on the J&M options are on these two pages of the J&M website, http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=50 ,,, http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=49 ,,, but from my experience this Harley radio flash should be used when installing any aftermarket brand amplifier ,,,,,

I have ran all different types of combinations,Started with started with the Fosgate PBR300x4 (entry level) with Hertz 6.5's & 6x9's in the lids. Ok yes but killer by no means. switched to 600X4 and was good Hertz speakers definately sounded great. I wanted louder and once i quit drinking the Hertz KOOLAID and switched to WETSOUNDS 6x9's with compression horns in my bags with Hertz 6.5's and a Fosgate T400x4 amp the system is crazy loud sounds like a wake board boat now.The Fosgate T400 is small & compact not much bigger than a VHS tape, digital and don't let the 400 watt name fool you is atleast twice the PBR300. The birth certificate that came in the box with the T400 amp was tested @586 watts. measurements for the T400 are 8.3"x4.2"x1.6"

As far as this magic box and or flashing your factory radio? Don't know nothing about that. ripped the factory unit out and sold it on Ebay a week after i had it.

R/F amp will work, along with the J&M ROKKER/Performance amps of course ,,,,,,

main thing is to have your Harley Infotainment radio flashed as they come stock, ((( 4 or 8 speakers, all amps OFF, and if you will connect more than 2 speakers to the system you might as well engage the Fader Control while you are flashing at the dealer))) ,,,,,,,

as for what are THE BEST speakers to install into your fairing ? ,,,,,,,, you will get enough opinions on that to write a book with ,,,,,,,

I will tell you however that THIS speaker kit from J&M http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=HCRK-6652TW-RXX was designed for this specific application ,,, and they will handle just about all the clean undistorted power you can throw at them ,,,,,,,,,
