Hello all, not sure why I joined this forum since my bike is a sportster, not a streetglide. but some of the issues might be similar. I noticed a couple of the cylinder bolts are rusted and the fork tubes are tarnished. my bike has been sitting in a unheated garage for the last 3 years where I do welding and other stuff. I think some of the grinding stuff ended up on the tubes. the rusted bolts, I've tried putting chrome covers over them, but eventually they vibrate off. is there a better solution to this? Thanks here's a pic. KIMG1143.jpg KIMG1142.jpg

Harley fork sliders are notorious for corroding either due to salt, brake dust or general atmospherics. Powder coating is the best long term solution. As for the bolts, that looks like dissimilar metal galvanic corrosion. Replace them and, if you are going to leave the bike in storage, coat it in a suitable preservative e.g. ACF50
