Wondering if anyone is running a Soundstream V2 without an amp. Thinking of installing one and upgrading fairing speakers only. Specs indicate 400 Watt internal amp. I don't really need much louder than stock, really looking for apple carplay and bluetooth devices. Also if anyone has recomendations on speaker upgrade.

The Soundstream V2 has a 400-watt internal amp, which is decent for driving stock speakers, but if you're looking for an improvement in sound quality, especially with upgraded speakers, adding an external amplifier could definitely enhance the performance. The internal amp might not be enough to fully drive higher-end speakers or provide the sound clarity and volume you're looking for, even if you don't need to go much louder than stock.

If you're focused more on getting Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth functionality, the V2 is already a solid choice. The 400-watt internal amp should be sufficient if you're not pushing for a high volume and if you're just looking for improved clarity and better sound at moderate levels. However, if you plan to upgrade to high-quality speakers, especially something with higher power handling like component speakers or aftermarket coaxial speakers, an external amp would help ensure you're getting the most out of them.

As for speaker recommendations, if you're upgrading the fairing speakers, you'll want to look for speakers that are designed to work well in the confined space of a motorcycle fairing and handle higher power. Brands like JBL, Kicker, and Rockford Fosgate offer quality options that would complement the V2 well. If you want clear sound at highway speeds, speakers with a good balance of bass and treble, along with a decent sensitivity rating, would be key. JBL GTO Series or Kicker 46CSC654 are popular options for motorcycle audio upgrades that provide good sound quality without needing too much power to drive them.

Overall, if you're happy with moderate volume levels, you could stick with the internal amp and focus on a quality speaker upgrade. If you want more power or clarity at higher volumes, adding an external amp might be the right move.
