An obvious option would be the 2014 Ultra rear shocks. I believe they offer another inch of travel but will also raise the SG.

I know this isn't what you want to hear but, it's a Street Glide. It's built for a more sporty feel and ride.
Hulkss, chime in with your findings.

I was told that they are not any better and only adjust on one side, I think it is the let side

I have the 13" shocks from HD that adjust on one side. Bike is in winter storage so no ride report yet. 13" should be way better than the 12". You get 50% more travel.

I just did the air ride with Monroe's. Unfortunately its way cold here and I had surgery on my foot so no ride review. Couple guys I know well love it.

Legend Air Ride.

Legend Air Ride. Best thing I have even done to any motorcycle I have owned. Not cheap but worth it. I put the system on my 2013 in Sturgis and now it floats on air when I want it to or I drop it down when I want it to look low and mean...

I personally run Suspension Technologies F-Tech Series Shocks on my Street Glide while my business partner has them on his Road Glide...we are both EXTREMELY happy with them. While we've had the opportunity to run several different brands of shocks, these are by far the smoothest riding shock we've both ridden with and the quality is second to none.

What I like most about them is that each set is custom built to the riders specifications. For example, once an order is placed, we contact the purchaser to get the overall ride load between the rider, passenger and luggage as well as the type of riding they do the most; ie: long, highway rides; around town; high-speed and/or aggressive cornering. From there this information is given to Mike Alex (owner and lead engineer) who builds the shocks to these specifications then dyno's each shock individually to ensure that each performs exactly the same. (This dyno sheet can be supplied with the shocks upon request, btw) The shock is then shipped to the customer at this baseline but if pre-load needs to be added / removed, the rider can easily make this adjustment by twisting the shock body to the left / right once installed without the use of special tools.

Another good thing about them is that they are very reasonably priced under $500 and as most bikers know, this is really about the only 'custom' modification that can be done at this price point. We consider Suspension Technologies shocks a 'hidden gem' in the sense that they do not do a whole lot of advertising and rely mostly on word of mouth to sell them but they perform as good if not significantly better than some of more expensive shocks on the market.

my 09 streetglide rode terrible changed out my stock 12inch shocks to the 2013 ultra classic shocks 13inches only raised my bike up 5/8 of an inch but couldnot believe the differance of the ride. then added a sundowner seat to complete the package and i am very pleased with the results

I just installed 430s on my '14 SG and the ride is still very hard over the imperfection in the roads. Not worth the price to change the originals.

I've had both Ohlins 3-3 (model), and JRI As. The Ohlins were a better ride. I ascribe that to greater adjustability (they have a rebound damping adjustment, as well as pre-load).

The JRI-As are less expensive, but still offer a good ride. Not quite as compliant as the Ohlins, but still better than the stock air shocks.

I've had Progressive 440s and 940's on Road Kings. I preferred the 440s myself. The 940s seemed stiffer, like they were purpose-built for those who do a lot of two-up riding. I had the HD springs replaced on them, with the standard springs, and the ride was better. Problem was, after the replacement the shocks would bottom-out more frequently than I liked.

From my experience, the 440s and the JRI-As had similar ride characteristics. Based upon quality of build, I'd expect the JRIs to out-live the 440s. But that's very subjective. When you look at the two shocks, the JRIs look more like a racing part, well made, and built to hold up. The 440s are more like a consumer level product, made for moderate duty. Both these shocks--JRI and Progressive--gave me a smoother ride than the stock 12" air shocks.

I'm looking at upgrading to JRI-Bs. These have rebound damping adjustment like the Ohlins, and they're an American company.
