Hello Folks,

First off let me say I do not own a Harley, yet...I currently have an 08 Yamaha vstar 1300.

Anyways, to the point....I'm looking at two bikes, the Fat Bob and the Street Glide, sorry, I don't know the official designation and I know comparing the two it's like Apples to oranges.

Most of the riding I do is in town, which is why I'm thinking the Fat Bob. I don't do a lot of long distance rides, but would like to, so the street glide seems like the logical choice, right?

I really like the bare look of the fat Bob, fat tires and the dual headlight is awesome looking as well.

Then there's the price...my local Dealership has a 2013 Fat Bob with about 4k miles for about $11,500. The oldest street glide they have is a 2016 for $20k.

With the used Fat Bob I would need to add a windshield and storage, which the street glide comes with. If I added that, from Harley I it's about $1200.

I know they're two different bikes, one is a Dyna and the other isn't.

I've ridden both, and they both ride nice, compared to my Yamaha.

I'm interested in long term ownership.

The Fat Bob has the High Output 103 where as the 2016 street glide has the 103, not sure if there's a difference there.

Also, I know the 2017 Fat Bob still has the 103 and the 2017 Street Glide has the 107.

Id like some input from current owners of either bike.

Thanks!

I owned my 2008 FXDF Fatbob longer than any 3 bikes I've ever owned and was very happy with it.
Great for short trips or long.
The 103CI is basically the same in both bikes as is the transmission but the lighter Fatbob will make it feel like more.
When I got my 2017 FLHX Streetglide my wife took over driving the Fatbob. Jumping on it after riding my SG I was amazed how light and nimble it felt, cause it's still a hefty bike.
Then she decided she liked riding on the back of my bagger more than riding her own so I just sold it on Fri.
If you go with the Fatbob get a windshield and bags and enjoy, but it's no Streetglide. Nor does it try to be.
( P.S.) I think 20K for a 2016 Streetgide is steep. For that much I'd try and find one with the Milwaukee 8 in it.

The reason why most your riding is in town, is probably because you're riding bar hopper type bikes. Get a Street Glide, and you can do both comfortably. It definitely would be the more long term investment. You can add bags and a windshield to a non bagger, but costs add up quick, if it doesn't have engine guards to mount highway pegs, doesn't have a decent passenger seat, doesn't have decent rear pegs, and on and on. Also, if you have to resell a converted bagger, good luck recouping anything you put in it to make it a bagger, whereas the bluebook of a factory bagger is what it is.
