Hi all, looking to upgrade my CRAP stock 2017 SGS Boom system for better sound keeping the stock headunit.
MY background is that of an Audio/Recording Engineer so I will be doing self install (did many of my cages over the years)
I want clean, accurate, punchy sound for now just with faring speakers and amp upgrade

I have seen so many posts saying a CVB52 amp and the Moto 6.5 V2 speakers kick ass others say they suck and go BT all the way
others have said BT blows and go with Hertz or Focal and Diamond or Arc amps

And yet others praise Peter at Soundz and say to drop $1200 on the SSAmp and the new IRON or Carbon series speakers

Then there is the whole yes FLASH 2 AMP 8 Speakers no LL vs LL and no flash

I don't have the time to chase the Audio Unicorn on my bike I just want a great system at a reasonable price
maybe two budget points $500 and $1000

On my 2015 SGS, I am running a JM Corp 250W 2 channel amp with Focal 165 KRC speakers in the fairing and in my custom tour pack pods which I bought from Eglidegoodies. The system sounds great and I have no complaints at all. I did have to take the bike to the dealer to have the radio flashed per JM Corp's instructions. I love this system, but it was expensive as hell.

For my 2018 SGS, I decided to go with the HD Boom Audio Stage 2 amp and speakers. This will also require a flash from the dealer. I doubt that it will sound as good as my 2015 SGS, but I wanted to keep everything on the new bike HD since it is the 115th Anniversary model. I also got 20% off on all of my HD parts, so it was certainly much cheaper.

From my experience it's better to spend the money up front and get the best to start with. Have upgraded mine 3 times now and I'm very happy with my Soundz set up. They make a very good plug and play system and their warranty is second to none. With you being a sound guy you won't be happy with the 500 set up. Pretty sure others will chime in here to share what they have been through to get what they want.

Good luck in your search and keep us posted on what you choose.
