This Harley tax is already getting ridiculous!

So I get the statement for my new Harley Street Glide and setup my online account to make my first payment. I sign up for paperless statements which inevitably save them money because they don't have to print a statement and pay to mail, it'll also save the amount of clutter in my mailbox and it'll even save a few trees. Good everyone, right? So why is harley trying to charge me six bucks every month ($360.00 over the life of the loan) to make my payment online? If I mail a check they need to pay someone to process it, online it transfers directly to them. It seems as if Harley is best at fleecing their fellow Americans for every last cent they can squeeze out of us.

Wildbill, can you explain the recurring payment setup that avoids the $6 monthly charge?

Set it up thru your bank... not Harley... it's free...

Log in to myhdfs.com

click "make a payment"

from the menu on the top of the window pick "manage accounts"

setup an electronic check that links to your checking account

then from the menu on the top of the window pick "reoccuring payments"

set on up.

this way of doing it is free.

the one payment at a time (which the site first sends you too) is the one that charges $6.00.

Use web pay through your bank/credit union. I don't get charged the $6 fee.

This is what I do and it set up as a one time payment.

Yep, like the others said. Set it up and it automatically comes out on the same day each month. I only get paid once a month on the 15th. I just setup so it comes out on the 18th of every month.

I agree also. I have mine set up for recurring monthly payments from HDFS and there is no fees associated with it.

I'm always wary about someone else having access to my money. I did that with Golds Gym a few years ago, that's the only way they allowed you to join and pay and when it came time to absolve our relationship, they were like a bad girlfriend...they kept coming after me for money and they didn't want to stop. After two months I threatened to sue and my bank threatened. So if you have some sort of bill-pay thru your bank, by all means use that and don't give anyone access to your accounts. That goes for utility bills and everyone else.
