It's used for updating the WHIM firmware.

If you have it and didn’t know it, you’re lucky. They don’t come with them from the factory on the SG and SGS. It’s a $299 add-on, not including the extra cable you usually need to connect it and the extra $$$ you’ll pay if you are having the dealer install it. Then of course is the required H-D branded SENA Bluetooth headset needed to get stereo out of it. Sorry. Rambling on.
