The new 2018 Blacked out Specials, do you like them, or hate them ? ?
The Blacked out look, is it here to stay, or is it a fad that will go away ? ?

I like a Black bike that is Blacked out it's a good look, some colors look good with chrome, while other are enhanced with Black.

What do you think ? ?

Personally I think blacked out looks good when they are all different and have a personal touch to them. Same with chrome. But when it becomes a cookie cutter and their everywhere and all the same, it's going to take away the unique "wow that's different" approach. But they do look sharp. Let's see what comes next now that using black to customize your bike will be ruined. Just my 2 cents and that's about all it's worth.

When I saw pictures, I wasn't impressed. When I saw the black one real life WOW. I don't mind them raising the price, you get a lot with the Special now.

To me it’s all a matter of what you like for your own bike. It’s either blacked out, chrome, or contrast. Unless you decide to powder coat everything a different color. So whichever you choose as long as you always like it who cares what everyone else’s bike looks like

I really like the blacked out look but for myself I will stick with chrome. Haven't seen a new one in person yet just pictures so I will wait to pass judgement.

I like a mixture of Black and chrome. But like the blacked out look to.

I like the blacked out look but if I had one I think I would get tired of it quicker than if I got a bike that came with chrome.

I've never been a huge fan of "blacked out"...always preferred chromed out. Wanted a SG for a while even though to me my 03 FLSTF with custom paint looked way sexier. I waited 3 months for the 18's to come out and was going to get a 17 black standard for the $ saved. Went to just see what the Cherry Special looked like in person and i was done. The black looks great on certain colors and to me my Cherry was the bike i "had" to have. Get what ever moves you!!!

I like them both depending on the color. I would be concerned that the black might show wear and stains more than chrome especially if the owner is not keeping up with keeping it clean.

pictures I took last time at the dealer.

I'm a fan of the Black this is the second bike I have mostly Blacked out. Not fully there yet but getting close. Still preferred to keep some chrome accents on both bikes though.

I walked into the dealership last week and fell in love with the SGS in black. I have added a few things like the new headlight, shifter and linkage, seat and highway pegs. I also did a stage 1 kit. I am scheduled to drop the bike off this week for the stage 4 114 kit.

What Do You Think

I’m becoming addicted to my blacked out cherry SGS, but I may (?) Swap out a few chrome bits here and there for contrast... Easy on the eyes and easy to keep clean - don’t want to lose that.

I think the black will show wear faster than chrome and I personally think it's much tougher to keep clean. My first bagger but damn I have bugs stuck to everything! Even my crash bars look terrible cause u can see every bug on it cause it's black!! I do know people have spent way more blacking out their bike than the ridiculous price I had to pay though.

Saw the you tube video of the release of 2018 bikes. Went to the dealer the next day to take care of some business and saw the Twisted Cherry SGS on its shipping platform. I had a 2016 SGS with 49,238 miles so I was not interested in trading up until then. Spoke with the dealer and purchased the first 2018 that Smoky Mountain H-D sold. Now has about 8,000 miles on her and I love it. Motor is much better and although the black shows up bugs easier, I also find it easier to clean for myself. So, YES I am a fan of the blacked out look.

I gotta say I think they look good, but I'm partial since I blacked out my 14 Morocco gold. I really like the wheels. That said, it doesn't leave much for the Owner to personalize.
