Which product would you keep?

I'd be torn too. I have heard good things about RF. The nice thing about the J&M is I think you won't need a flash per se. Most other systems need a flash. There are a ton of people on here who know about these two systems. Hopefully someone can help you. I am looking at a speaker upgrade in my fairing soon. I'll be curious what is recommended for you to keep.

Unfortunately I am getting hardly any responses to this question. I posted on the H-D forums too.
Those that responded trashed both companies products. I think they are representing other companies products.
I am after a simple upgrade without recalibrating the stock radio.
I got the J&M kit $100 off the advertised price. There are good reviews on the J&M speakers. Lukewarm reviews on their amps. There are a lot of incredible systems out there. I only want fairing speakers.

I'm not going to trash these other companies but for the money I like a different set up. It all depends on what your happy with in the end. I have started out almost ordering the JM stuff but had a brother turn me onto the Soundz Customz stuff and with a really big sound difference. My problem is I started out small with the front speakers and amp, then onto the 5X7 bag speakers with a bigger amp before I was happy and could hear it at 80mph. Then along came the new speakers and they rock so now I still have the same amp but 6 6.5's and the 5X7's. I will admit this is over kill but I can hear in surround sound and the sound clarity is amazing. This has happened over 5 almost 6 years because I'm on a budget also. There's a lot you can do with the products you have but getting the amp tuned right takes a good tech. If you need a ECM flash for the radio you don't have to go to Harley. Lots of shops out there now have the flashing tool and I think you can even rent one.

There are a lot of great sounding systems out there.... then... you have not so great. What sounds good is a preference. style of music.. etc. The ONLY way to know what is gonna sound 'good' TO YOU... is YOUR EARS. That being said. You need to listen to a few different systems with similar components you are wanting to get. Remember.... a tune can make or break a system in anyone's ear.


I can't tell you which is better, because I have heard better and cannot choose between them.... this is a PERSONAL PREFERENCE


I did ample research on many systems before I chose... I did NOT want to be THAT GUY that was buying/swapping out bits and pieces every so often because I 'settled' on something I didn't REALLY want because of patience or budget at the particular time.

Research and listen to systems with your naked ears to gain a true perspective on the quality/performance of MANY systems BEFORE you jump into the audio world. You will be thankful you did.

I run/own Reno Bagger Audio.... and not one shop sells everything... I am partial to what I carry and for good reason... but I don't discount other companies and their products

I will give you some advice on whatever system you choose:

A Flash on a factory head unit is the BEST way to flatten the EQ curve within the deck... hands down.
Line levelers work.. some better than others.

Unless you are experienced with wiring.. including CANBUS system... ALWAYS buy plug and play

ALWAYS insulate and isolate your RCA's from one another and away from contacting other metals. Don't let them touch each other or other metal on the bike
