OK... me and my bride go out for Sushi last night.... Iggi's... AWESOME!!

We get home... I open the double garage door ( we have a double and a single- 3 car )

Pull in and get out. Grab some stuff from the back of the cage... CLOSE the garage door and head into the house.... its about 9:30pm now.... no biggie right?

WRONG!!!!

I get up to a phonecall from work ( I'm on-call this week) at 5:15am. I get dressed and head out to the garage to find BOTH SINGLE AND DOUBLE DOORS ARE OPEN!!!!!

I check around the garage... nothing is missing... nothing touched. I have A LOT OF STUFF in a 3 car garage... bike trailer, car, sled... and several thousand dollars worth of tools from hand tools to welders, compressor and such.

FREAKED ME OUT!!!! I live in a good neighborhood... except for a few punks.

Openers are a completely different brand....

anybody EVER have something like this happen? VERY weird and weighing HEAVY on my mind right now.....

Thanks

I would yes I have...depends on where you live and the activity in your neighborhood. Do you have an military bases around or test facilities? I have seen this happen in the past with certain test going on.

We have Intellicode "roaming" code openers. Twice in 20 years ours got opened and I assume it was either radio interference or someone with a similar rolling code opener passing by and pressing the button. When we go on vacation I always unplug the openers while we're gone for that reason. I guess its the same principal as turning off cell phones while in a construction area.

well... glad to see I am not the only one.... scary!!!

I did a little thinking... and talking to Dana.... lol.

I may have unintentionally hit the button the single and opened it INSTEAD of closing the double.... once we here the door... we don't look back.... umm......

DOH!!!

Could have been a brain-fart by me..... sign of old age? sigh......

Happy to hear nothing was taken. I try to double check the garage door when I leave the house and before going to bed. Nothing worse than to come home or wake up to find the door open. You probably hit the wrong button.

They have door openers now that hook up to the internet so that you can check to see that it is open. They also inform you if the door is open longer then a set amount of time.

There are also cheap cameras that link to your cell phone. My friend had one that also had a speaker on it. In the event that someone is in your garage, you can tell them to get the f out through the speaker, while watching them on your phone. He had great fun scaring his wife with it when she was home

thanks for all the info.... might be getting one of those motion detector spy cams for the garage and hook it to my network. That way I can get an alert when someone is in the garage.... just gotta set it high enough so the dog doesn't set it off...

If you do that just set the camera software to email you a photo if it is triggered. Then if you decide to connect to the camera and scare people through audio you can. It will also give you the advantage of having a picture of who ever entered your garage.

I just replaced mine last Sunday with a Chamberlin opener. It notifies me when the door is open or closed. I can also use my iphone to operate it, it's pretty nice.

There is a gadjet out there that you can put in any room and it will let you know if your garage door is open, not sure where i seen it but if i ever get one i will put it in my bedroom, there has been a few nights i laid down and couldn't remember if i shut the door or not.
