YELVINGTON Reverse Gear

I have motor trike reverse kit on mine. It does the job. But I wish I had gone with baker reverse. It's the same price as yelvington. With baker you get R-1-N-2-3-4-5-6 set up. They install a switch on handle bars to engage reverse. With motor trike you get a knob on right side close to muffler that you push to engage reverse.

I have the baker reverse installed on my Bike. I had Manatee River Harley Davidson do the install. It was expensive but what a great product they make!
I think that Harley should offer this as a std. or even an option for the big bikes.
I really like baker products. I have a 1989 FXRS that I have a baker 6 speed on. That Tranny shifts like "butter"'89 FXRS Right.jpg

Crazy thing. Posted that the baker replaced the counter shaft and trap door assy and cover. Also replaces the shift drum

Anybody have one of these installed on their sled? looks interesting but ridiculously expensive. http://offers.yelvingtonusa.com/mrp-...&utm_medium=ad

To answer your question about the Yelvington Reverse I have 3 friends that have installed them on their bikes due to being mature and vertically challenged, having a bad back and the other one because he is tired of having his wife or one of us to push him back out of a situation.

All I can say is it works and works well!! They smile every time they use it. Unfortunately I have a 2003 Electra Glide and they yet don't make one for my year bike yet. Though they say they are working on it.

I have done research for them and myself and the difference between the Baker and the Yelvington is that the Baker while being a little cheaper for the unit itself it cost much more to install. Don't get me wrong anything Baker makes is great! He makes a quality product.
As for the reverse the Yelvington Reverse is a simple concept which is easy to use and can be transferred to another bike if you decide to trade up or change models. What I liked about it is that it uses the power of your first gear, so as fast as you can go in first you can do that in reverse. It has plenty of power to get you out of any situation, gravel, dirt, grass, inclines ect... Even with a passenger!

The price for the Yelvington Reverse is under $2k but the install is around 2-3 hours being a first time install. What is changed on the install is the Pulley, axle and they add an air compressor. Basically a plug and play system. It ends up being cheaper than the Baker installed. Another reason is that your transmission is not tampered with or any other part of your engine for that matter.

If you catch the Yelvington guys at a show they install for free. I was there in Daytona last year when they installed it on my friends 2014 Street Glide and my brothers 2012 Ultra and it looks pretty straight forward.

Their customer service is great! I know because I have their Shocks and have bugged them about making it for older bikes! I had to get something since they don't have a reverse for my 2003 EG. By the way their shocks are awesome!!!

I hope this helps anyone looking into a reverse. Go to their web site www.yelvingtonusa.com it will also take you to youtube where you can see install videos and the unit in action.

I just won a set of their Black Hills shock, haven't installed them yet thought...I see you're in Clearwater..I lived in New Port Richey for 24 years before moving to TX 3 years ago. Spend a lot of time in Clearwater and on the beach, and worked for the Clearwater Parks and Rec for a couple of years. Beautiful area to ride.

It would really surprise me if they were to risk the R&D budget for anything as old as a 2003. I wouldn't imagine there would be too many folks willing to invest the money to buy a system and have it installed on that old a unit.

You would be surprised Yarddog on how many of us that have older bikes and what we spend on them. Those that have older bikes and have personalized them to our taste prefer to hold on to something that we created, are familiar with and is a part of us. Why go through the trouble of buying a new bike to start all over again. Plus I work on my own bike and I am familiar with every upgrade and part I have installed on my bike. I prefer to keep my money in my then to give it to Harley. I have spent enough already!
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
I am not one to be the first one on the the block to go and buy the latest, greatest, thing out there. I have had my bike for 5 yrs and have customized it and got it to where it runs great and I am familiar with everything I have done to it. It gives me as much joy riding it as it did the day I bought it. Actually I like it even more now because I have created what I envisioned it to be when I bought it. Also I own it free and clear. If I would buy a new one I would have to start all over again. That's is half the fun but, God bless anyone who has that type of disposable income. I know that is what's keeping Harley alive, but my main concern is not Harley but me. I am 58 yrs old and thank God I have a bike and have the health to still ride. If a reverse for $2000 will extend my riding time on a two wheeler I am all for it!
I love to ride! I am not one to buy a bike to stand around and brag who has the biggest wheel, loudest, stereo or shiniest paint job. I would hate to think that that is what the motorcycle industry is going towards.
I hope that us as bikers don't start dividing or judging riders by the year of their bike or make for that matter. Then I could never ride my 1940 Knuck!
Also I am sure that Yelvington is working on the reverse for older bikes because they have told me they have gotten an abundance of inquiries about their reverse for older model bikes and softails and that there are actual units being tested on bikes at this moment.
There is HOPE!!

Congrats on winning the Suspension Technologies Black Hills Series shocks OnTarget45 you will love them. Enjoy Texas. There are some beautiful places to ride there.

Will be waving to all my brother riders!!

Tommyropes, actually I would NOT be surprised. ..I got you by six years. But a company has to look at the potential market before it invests money into R&D. What you say is true from the emotional point of view. However, businesses don't prosper on emotions. They prosper on the profit margin. Hence, my opinion. ..which still stands. I wouldn't base that business decision on the relatively few folks who would be willing to invest big bux on an old machine!

That said, I hope that you are right and I am wrong about Yelvington's plans!
