So much for having a new bike

Well I only got 3400 miles on my new ride. Now just waiting for Big Sky Harley to write it off. Fingers crossed. What's worse is I was sleeping when my bike was in a zero person accident with a 50,000lb milk truck at 5am at my hotel in Great Falls. The driver left his truck out of gear and didn't set the e-brake. The milk truck traveled across 6 lanes of road, a meridian in the roads, and 2 curbs before bouncing off my buddies Street Glide and then used mine as it's new brake. Total front end damage and dragged bike 15'. Bike will never be the same. So I've told my insurance company as well as theirs that it was new when I went to bed. And I want a new bike back and not a this one fixed. Reason being is if I would want to upgrade in a year or 2 I'd have to drop my price drastically on what it be worth as I would have to disclaim it being in an accident. Guess I just have to wait and see if the Harley shop does find the frame out.

The good news is no one was hurt. I had a bike that was backed over and their insurance company wanted to fix it, I stood my ground and made the total it. So stand your ground and they should do the same.

Damn I would have cried... frame has to be bent and your right about the resale value. Stand your ground. Any pics

That really sucks you haven't even got it broken in yet. I would make sure they replace any upgrades you had on it also.

Horrible news. I am dreading my first scratch. You end up with a totaled bike. I hope a new bike is the end result for you.

Glad no one was hurt.
I hit a Deer with my 2014 Street Glide last October, I had 1200 miles on it. The cost to repair was $15,000. They put a new frame, front fender, forks, fairing inter & outer, & all of the other things that were on the left side. They didn't repair anything, They Replaced all of the parts new from Harley Davidson. The title is doesn't say anything about reconstruction or anything like that. I also had some upgrades added like chrome front forks & color matched inner fairing that cost the same as the stock ones.
IMO the only thing that is different from my bike and the other Street Glides is that mine was built at my local Harley Dealership not in York,Pa

The service manager at my dealership said that my bike was about $1,500 to $2,000 from being totaled.

New frame = new vin number there fore no salvaged title.

You only have to do the salvage title if it's been totaled out by an insurance company and the state and you buy it and fix it up. As for the new frame you can have the new frame with your old vin number on it. Kids bent the frame on my 4 wheeler so we cut the frame piece out with the vin number and sent it in new frame came back with the same vin number. Reason for this is it's too easy to steal one then change the frame out so it can't be traced back.

Just my 2 cents

The VIN # is the same as my original frame, dealer orders new frame with original vin# then the have about two week & they have to cut the steering head off of old frame where the vin # is and send it to Harley

Well got some news today. From my buddy who was the other bike. Seeing as his bike had some minor damage the insurance company wants him to sign off and get his fixed ASAP. But when he talk to harley about everything and looked at the 2 quotes(adjuster&Harley) the adjuster was using part numbers that weren't even for his bike and year. So prices aren't even close. He then ask if there was any news on mine and they have found the frame bent. We now have a meeting with the adjuster and Harley for both our bikes on Friday afternoon. Like not being rude about the insurance agency but if they would have just wrote it off on July 1 my new bike with all exact parts would have been ready for this Friday. At $150/day for this rental and if we don't agree on bike being written off and they have to get parts for my bike we are looking at another $4500 for this rental as all color match parts are up to 30 day lead time. So insurance would be up to at least $6000 for rental fees if I have my bike back in 4 weeks.

Keep building your case. My friend is an adjuster and all they want is the lowest cost for them so keep pushing and don't settle for nothing less. Longer it takes means more cost to them.

My first replacement frame took over 1 month to get from York, Pa to Lewiston, ID. When it arrived it had freight damage & they had to order another frame. It took I week to process it before it was shipped. The second frame only took 2 weeks from order time until it was here. I think that there was 20 hrs labor to install a new frame.
I do wish you good luck with your insurance adjuster.

Well here is an update. Met with adjuster. Harley found the frame bent. The adjuster took pictures and claimed it a total loss. He threw down a number of $14,500 damage. And he has missed a lot from what I see on the bike. So anyways after adjuster claimed it a total loss The dealership stopped going over the bike to actually see what the final cost for them to fix it to new again. Insurance company calls Big Sky Harley to see how much it would cost to get an exact bike like mine. They quoted them $32,000US. Well now they have turned around and said the bike isn't a total loss as it is not 75% of the replacement cost. Adjuster told me 50%. So now I have the dealer completing their estimate and I have my insurance company sending their adjuster now. I will get 3 quotes on what they all say. Glad the milk truck driver insurance paying for this rental. But they sure want it back. $150/day it costing them. I just want my ride back. I had a huge grin each time I rode it. Now the ultra I ride don't have the same feeling as I put so much money and pride into my Glide. Hopefully soon I'll get an answer my bike is ready.

Look in to getting a lawyer. Have them contact the insurance company there dragging you along. They should resolve it promptly as it clearly there drivers neglect at fault. You can also call your insurance company to pressure them too.
