Saddle bag security locks

I've read a lot of horror stories of saddle bags falling off and I'm sure 90% of them is because the owner didn't engage the quick disconnect fastener. Well I didn't want to make it 91% so I ordered these security fasteners from Amazon for about $30. I've seen some that use screws, but I didn't want to have to use any tools to remove my bags. I just installed them today and I can see they are a lot more secure. Installation was extremely easy. Just remove the old clips and install the new ones. You have to reuse your large washer when you install the hand screws which also has a lock washer on it.

Yep I got the same ones off ebay for $18 much nicer than the stock cam locks...

At least Harley fixed the security issue of popping them off with a screw driver on the 14's

I've never had much luck with eBay, it always seems hit or miss for me. Glad you got them cheaper.

Haven't ride the bike with them yet, but I doubt it since they use a lock washers. They are pretty tight.

I use these. Gotta have an Allen wrench to unscrew them but its another barrier for a thief just in case they can get the lid open. If you have to buy a complete set of bags, lids & hardware it's damn expensive even less your deductible! ( $6 at Home Depot)

I put the same hd saddle bag security kit on my 14' SG. Easy install and more secure attachment to the bike. I got mine at the dealer for $28.

Yep.. I went the Home Depot route.. Not losing my bags...

Charcoal pearl,4"jackpot,decat head pipe,tuner,21" Costal moto rim, chopped tour pak,Rockford amp and speaker upgrade. SE stage 1.

leaving for a big road trip before they can be delivered... anyone know what size, bolts, washers, locking washer and clips I need if I go to Lowes myself? Thanks.

Here ya go
part number 881249 for the (5/16 by 18) U nut and part number 884516 for the (5/16 by 18) fluted knob.

Got my hardware from McMaster Carr...got shoulder bolts so that they'd snug down on the u-nuts...got them in boxes of 25 along with the u-nuts and stainless washers and when I encounter someone who shares my reluctance to getting our bags stolen, I just give them a set...less than five bux for everything...I doubt that Lowes or Home Depot sell shoulder bolts, and in my opinion, these are the way to get in lieu of conventional fasteners.

After seeing these threads, I went right out and got some STDs. Pleasantly surprised at how much more secure the bags feel mounted on the bike! Screws and U-nuts are an absolute must mod!

Sorry for the hijack but what was actually changed on the 14 fasteners per the recall? Chandler Harley had saddlebag hardware (can't remember the brand) but someone had told me they were not necessary on the Rushmore bags since they can't be popped off like the older ones.

That's what I thought.....regardless, I check mine every fuel up (on long trips) just to be safe and no problem at all.
