ABS recall

Luckily, my 2014 does not have ABS. Consequently, I know there was a recall but for what years I am not sure. Does anyone know anyone whose ABS system failed them?(front wheel lock up if I'm correct) and if they survived what I would think would be catastrophic? I think it was a result of a brake line being routed in a way that it could get pinched? Could the brake line on a non-ABS bike be routed in the same direction creating this same scenario? I assume probably not becaused they weren't recalled. I just wanted to put it out there for my own knowledge. Thanks.

Luckily, my 2014 does not have ABS.

I feel just the opposite and bought my bike mainly to get ABS.

The new Reflex Linked Brakes work as a system whether only the front, rear, or both brakes are applied.

Linking is applied to achieve an optimized front/rear brake balance based on the amount of brake applied and vehicle speed. The amount of linking is dynamically adjusted to provide maximum benefit in heavier braking and is reduced for light braking. Linking will not occur if the brakes are applied below 20 mph.

The brake calipers are from Brembo of Italy.

The photo shows the result of twenty emergency stops, 10 with ABS and 10 without. It's clear ABS can out stop a non-ABS driver on dry pavement. The chart shows the benefit of linked brakes when only the front, rear, or both are applied. The scale is deceleration “g force” achieved.

This is a real safety feature. If a stopping emergency is called for, just hit the brakes and hang on....in wet or dry conditions.

Hulkss- interesting graph findings. I do enjoy my ABS a lot.

I must say the ABS unit sounds like crap when it activates.

Interesting numbers and illustration regarding the effectiveness of ABS, no doubt! I have locked my rear brake many times avoiding things, in the wet I do wish I had ABS,but never the front brake for more than a millisecond. I have locked the front brake many times on dirt bikes while trail riding and in all situations crashed! It's no fun.
That's why I am curious if anyone knows of someone's Streetglide having this issue and how the owner made out. Is it possible that our non-ABS brake lines are routed in a way that would create a "pinch" effect?

ABS was one of the reasons I got the SGS. I have had 2 panic stops one in the rain and must say it sounds like the bike is falling apart bit no skids

No. On the abs set up the control module is in front of the rear tire so the lines have to travel back to the controler the return to the front. There is a channel along side the back bone for the lines to run in. Apparently they figured out they needed 2 more zip ties to make sure those lines stayed in that channel.

A non abs system doesnt have any of these issues line just goes from the master to the callipers.

Makes sense. Thanks!

?? Yours makes noise? I've only had to make a couple of panic stops and to tell you the truth I did not notice anything except the pulsating pedal.
