It happened.... I dropped it... sigh...

Hey Mojo....do those bolt right in?? :D

Yup- You have to remove the seat, remove the seat rail guides and put the rail guides on top of guard as you bolt them both back in the frame rail. All in all, I did both sides in less than 30 minutes.

I dropped mine after buying it brand new and having it for 30 days. I came up to a stop sign and didn't notice the asphalt dropped off. Needless to say, my foot didn't reach the ground and down it went. $2600 and a big learning lesson.

ALA- What was $2600 . . . . bags?

Paul Yaffe has some Bag Claw's that lool pretty cool. $199.00 on there web site. Havent seen any on any bodys bike.

Been riding since I was a kid, never had a Bagger before. I had the 2016 SGS for two weeks and dropped it. Was walking it around while seated in a tight spot and turned left on the down incline. Gravity did its thing. Felt stupid just like everyone else. Bought the Harley saddlebag guards and will put them on tomorrow. It seems to be a huge membership to the drop it club. I did learn though.

Starting from a dead stop with the handle bar turned completely in one direction is a good way to drop it. Go easy, feather the clutch if you are trying to make that sharp of a turn. I have never dropped mine, but came close in this very situation. I have blown out both my rotator cuffs and I couldn't pick up a bike if my life depended on it.

I feel your pain...was walking it down the ramp at my local HD dealer after a service and dropped it in front of a ton of people. I felt like an idiot but the saddlebag guards did their job and only had a small scractch

Ouch!

Ouch!

Sad to say… I belong to the “Dropped Scooter Club” too.

I went to visit a friend out in the country. He lives on a dirt/gravel dead end road off of a highway. This was a rare time where the Old Lady was on the back. Earlier in the day I had the “lean with me in the curves/turns” talk in hopes of a smoother ride. We were leaving my friend’s house. We came to the “T” where the dirt/gravel road meets the highway (with a stop sign for us). The highway had traffic so we had to come to a full stop before taking a left on the highway. This is where **** goes bad. The asphalt apron from the highway onto the dirt/gravel road was covered with gravel/rock. I kept trying to get footing with NO luck. It was like marbles under my feet. Add an Old Lady that thought it was time to start leaning into the turn and you have no chance of recovering…

I found my old/fat ass CAN do the splits! Ouch on two levels! I was able to let her (the Scooter) down ever so gently while sacrificing my groin muscles.

The Scooter was OK! My pride and groin, no so much!

Hate to say, I joined the club early this year as well. I do have the bag guards.
Was in ARK and had ridden a couple of good days. Was at the hotel bar for meal and brews, then walked back to the room. Later wanted a snack. Thought, I'll ride to the burger joint a block away. Fired it up (and know I shouldn't have been riding, stupid) leaving the parking lot is a steep 45 degree angle to the steep 45 degree street. Got a running start during the days with no problem. This time was a little short of the crest, and felt it coming over. At 45 degree, I didn't have a chance. Luckily a young buck stopped to help me. All night I was sick thinking what it would cost to replace/paint the bag.. Couldn't even look at it. Next morning went out, and was Amazed ! Not one scratch on the bag just scratched the bar, it did break the end off the clutch lever and grip (replaced since). Thats it !
The bag guards DO work my friend.

I know I should get bars. But I'm having a hard time with the look. Anyone else feel same?

if you drop it without bars.... looks have NOTHING to do with what damage they save.... I like the way they look now... they grew on me....

I joined the "dropped it" club last week. As I entered the parking lot at work I was driving down the huge line of motorcycle parking spots we have (30+), sorta dipped into a wide open line of spots to lean around to my left to making parking the bike a simple stop and short back-in to a spot. As I dipped in and turned to the left I caught a vehicle in my left periphereal vision moving towards me through the parking lot. I was half-way into my barely moving turn when I grabbed the brakes. Down she went in slo-mo. Did my best (torqued my bad left knee) to make it a gentle landing. Bike balance on the floorboard, and maybe a little on the front bars. Saddlebags were not damaged. Not really sure if it was my fault, his fault or no fault. I won't do that again though. Funny thing, my saddlebag guards were sitting in the box in my garage. Had not had the time to put the on yet. You bet that's my next priority!

If your bike color happens to be Black, go for the matching Black saddlebag guards. They blend in very well.

At a glance, the saddlebag guards really don't stand out. Here's another pic right after I installed 12" Yaffe monkey bars. I studied those and decided chrome helps them stand out and look higher.
