It happened.... I dropped it... sigh...

You're welcome Willie. I've always liked the Black & Orange color combo. Post a picture sometime that will answer the ? ..... have you added saddlebag guards?

I wanted to take off the engine guards but added luggage bars instead. Never dropped but had some really close calls with footing on shoulder in mountains. Can not bare to think about buying new bags and paying for the special paint. Now I like the look. Naked looks better but not practical for me. Also heard it is hard to pick up a dropped bike with out them.

Iron Horse,

No guards on the bags yet. I'm thinking the black guards will go on my short list.

Thanks again!

Willie

Lol...I dropped mine at a gas pump with only a dozen or so people looking on. At 5'5" and 150lbs, when the glide started going down, not a lot I could do to stop it, so I set it down as gently as I could. Pretty funny, actually!

I let my down gently a few months ago at a convenience store. Pulled up and kicked down the kickstand (or so I thought) heard it click but didn't realize it snapped back up. Felt it going down as I went to get off and almost caught it but nooooo. I was able to slowly lower it down onto the engine and bag guards .. not even a scuff on either of them. Quite embarrassing but I see it happens to a lot of us. I can tell you I'll never have the same thing happen to me again.

I shouldn't rat on a friend, but one of the guys i ride with has a 14 Heritage. Rode dirt bikes as a kid but that was it. He bought it and wanted to go to ARK with me. We ride, come to a stop and see him fall off. I help him up. We ride some more, stop, falls off. Did this FOUR Times. Luckily soft bags so never hurt anything. Went to Tenn/NC the next year. Stop, falls off and rolls how the hill. Did this Twice !. It got to the point I expected it every freak'n time we stopped. He does only have "one" eye and thought that might be the problem, but he gets pissed if I bring it up, even tried to talk him into a 3 wheeler instead but.. This year in Colorado, pull in a store for gas, hits a pothole and down.
He Finally figured out it was panic stops that was doing it, instead of slowing to a stop with control. He's been fine since. But I laugh every time I think about it. That Heritage is the perfect bike for him, I think its indestructible.

Street glide went down yesterday. I was tired, hungry, aching from the ride and pissed at Hal9000 for giving horribe directions, to include directing me to turn through two fields(excuses, excuses!). Pulled into the parking space and put it in neutral but forgot a key step of "how to park a motorcycle ". Damn that thing went down far! But glad my sissy bar gave me something to grab onto.

One tiny scratch on the bottom corner of the bag and a big scratch on my ego.

The first step to recovery from embarrassment is to admit it to all of us.
The second step is for us to admit to you we've done it too!
Glad everything is alright!
