I know this is on other forums but wanted to hear everyones advice here. I'm thinking about buying some 12" Paul Yaffe's for the bike. My question is has anyone installed them themselfs? How hard is it? Is it worth doing it myself?

We've put a couple sets of these bars on some customer bikes and they have all been extremely happy with them. I will say that the installation is a b!tch since routing the wires through the top of the bars where they come to a point at the hand control area is pretty difficult to do. In addition, you will need to extend the wiring and clutch cable which not only involves more cost but also requires removing the exhaust system to get to the clutch housing.

Overall, it's certainly a job that you could do yourself but it will be tedious and time consuming. However with a little patience, you can get the job done and save a little $$ on labor.

Keep us posted on what you decide.

I did two bikes this past winter with those exact bars. My SG and a buddies Road Glide. A bitch pulling the wires but other than that it wasn't particularly hard. I went with cables and brake lines from these guys http://magnumshielding.com/ good quality products. Both of us are very happy with our bars.

Also wondering what you charge for installation? Bagger Nation quoted me $860 for the bars, wiring kit and riser bushing kit. Is this a good price?

Well since we don't typically do installations I can't really provide a cost as to what we do them for since the three we have put on have been on buddies bikes where we didn't charge an install fee. I would say you could expect to pay labor for roughly 3 hours worth of work.

As for the cost Bagger Nation gave you, I think that sounds reasonable for everything you mentioned.

I personally charge $150 for installation. Which is very fair. The dealer will destroy your wallet....big back order on a lot of yaffe bars, which sucks. Waiting 7 week for my last set

After having done two sets myself I'd say $150 is downright cheap.

Just an FYI, I just put 12" monkey bars on my 2014 flhx and while pulling and soldering extent ions for the wiring was a bitch, I did not have to replace hydraulic clutch and brake cables.

The stock cables were long enough? I just picked up a pair of 14" Wild 1 Chubby Apes for my 14 FLHX. I wonder if they will be long enough for 14's?

I sent an e-mail to wild one asking about cables for their 12 .5 on my 14 and they said most definitely had to change cables and pretty sure they said get 6 inches longer.
