What did you do to your bike today?

Kimack- I feel for you, my wife has no interest in Motorcycles either. Its a simple fact of life just as I have no interest in spending the day at the mall shopping. But, she is a classy lady, she understands that riding is therapeutic to me and that alone makes our relationship close. Riding is my selfish little pleasure, I enjoy it and I respect her and love her (32 years now) for giving me that space!

Got home after dark from work so on my 2015 Denim Black FLHXS with 750 miles on her, I: used the denim black cleaner to clean my bike up a bit, turned the rear shocks up to medium (about 2-1/2), updated the BOOM to 1.18.3 last nite- no real issues once I read the instructions correctly (download to computer, then remove file from zip folder, then drag into thumb drive), adjusted the tank bra a bit- I'm a little concerned that the bra is going to melt onto the top of the rocker. Then I opened a can of PBR, sat on the bike and listened to some music for about an hour. I was in real bliss. A lot of stuff going on in my world lately and my bike is my tonic. One of the things- my wife (NOT my old lady!), HATES my bike with a passion. This is the real deal. I could afford all the jangle I want to put on the bike, but there is a significant argument period to pay. Spent nearly $2,000 getting a tour pack with a plush backrest and gonna put some passenger floorboards on it, but she has no desire what so ever to ride. This ain't a sounding board, but **** has got to change cuz I am a Harley rider and since I traded in my 02 Lowrider for my 15 SGS, even more so. Me and my buddy reserved for Sturgis this year and that's a huge bucket list item there- yes indeed. So, I'm trying to say that I'm a little jealous of you guys who can tool in the garage for hours with the tunes cranked putting on those new mods.

Klmack,
Hang in there Brother, better days ahead! I agree that your bike is tonic and therapy and I'm glad you have it! Nothing better than your face in the wind!
As a lifelong Guitar player, Street Rod builder, and Biker I share your pain! My late first ex-wife liked none of it. I couldnt take it anymore so I moved on. I'm not suggesting you do that but I would like to say that my second wife and I were soul mates. As a musician herself she loved music, liked our cars, and she would not take a no answer if she wanted a ride on our bike "Black Betty". Sadly she passed last year. We were together 26 years!
So, for the happy ending....Her best friend who divorced about the same time my wife died is with me now and we are having a wonderful time. Years ago I gave her her first Harley ride and she immediately went out and got her bike license.. Her hubby at the time had zero interest so now she is on the back of my bike "Platinum Plus", or asking if she can take the street rod for a ride, and requesting me to crank up one of my guitars..
My point in all this ramble is that after having a spouse with no common interests It is a true joy to appreciate the ladies that have shared my life and interests.
I have many friends in both camps and it can be a tough deal if a wife not only does not share the interest but also controls the purse strings.
Hope it works out satisfactorily for both you and you spouse. Maybe she will come around and get a few tats and some leather and hop on back!

Best,

Blues

I have the same problem but maybe not as bad. Wife tells me now it's fun to watch me open new parts and install it, something about the smile of a little kid. She will only ride for short distances and has only been on this bike twice for about 20 miles.

Looks like your pretty close the for a Nor-cal get together sometime

Good luck with your quest and don't think your alone you can always talk to us mod-itis freaks.

I feel your frustration too. My wife loved my Heritage, the one I traded in for my SGS. Said it looked "badass" with all the leather. Wasn't happy at all when I brought the new girl home. Continues to call her the "b*tch". Says she looks like a RUB bike and can't understand why I keep wanting to add stuff to her.

But, she has ridden her and is coming around. She has her hobbies, horses, and I have mine...hot rods, 4wheeling, bikes.

Oh, what I did today was ride my bike, like I do everyday. :D

It's been a Snow-Sleet-Rain kinda day so what better than to start dismantling the SGS for my new Rokker XX Extreme speakers and 250 w Audio system (part # RXEX-250SP2-14SG) from our sponsor J&M Corp.
FYI-They also offer a 20% discount off MSRP by sending an email to John !

Is it making noise yet Mojo????

IT IS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It sounds so good I can barely turn the volume up because it's so loud. Whether you use radio or iTunes its completely awesome. J&M even sends a USB stick with every conceivable type of music sample on it so you can get a true perspective of the dynamic range of this amp and speaker setup. Now I can understand why Spazz turned his on in the driveway and walked a half block away recording the sound at far distances. I am 110% floored by the difference in this and stock Boom series.

What I liked about John's kit is everything you can possible need is in it. For any of you "on the fence" and want a great system at a modest price, this kit (part # RXEX-250SP2-14SG) with John's SGF discount was $799 and was fun to install ! 5 Stars here :p ;)

Happy it sounds good Mojo I'm sure just about anything you upgrade to is going to be better after seeing what was installed for stock. Did you get the flash done already ?? I guess I should add I'm on my way to Reno this week to get another flash as mine didn't take or I need a different one.

I still have a ways to go until I can pull the trigger on a system for my bike, but I'm thinking I might actually go with the system you went with, Mojo.

Quick question though, how are the lows with that setup? On a few past speakers on cars and also the ones on my bike now, I've had a problem with them bottoming out on just about any type of music.

Got my J&m 180w 2 channel amp installed today, it's pushing my upgraded boom speakers and it sounds great! I also am installing premium ride low front cartridge kit, just have to put the forks back in and tins on tomorrow and I will be done with this project.

Crumb,
Which Boom speakers did you go with, stage I or stage II?

Mine are stage 1 I had them installed before I brought my bike home and the stage 2 were not available yet.

I just scored a pair of new stage I Boom speakers off eBay for $100. I will run these without an amp this summer but was wondering how they would couple up with a lower wattage amp.
