What did you do to your bike today?

JMeadows- Yeah, I forgot to mention how great John was in my correspondence before the install. I asked several questions and he always got back to me right away. Ordering was quick and shipping fast! I give J&M Corp 5 stars for quality and customer service ! ! ! !

The key to good audio requires hardware and software. J&M provide custom tuned digital signal processing (DSP) to get the most from the speakers. Others may too.

I still have a ways to go until I can pull the trigger on a system for my bike, but I'm thinking I might actually go with the system you went with, Mojo.

Quick question though, how are the lows with that setup? On a few past speakers on cars and also the ones on my bike now, I've had a problem with them bottoming out on just about any type of music.

hevyrockerdk- I haven't notice any issues on the low end. Clarity across the spectrum is very tight and sounds great. The USB stick J&M sent with my system offers you a broad range of music samples to listen/test to.
A good bass test is the intro to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". I cranked it up and no bottoming or buzzing was present. On the high side I tested the Sax turnaround in Foreigners "Urgent" and it just sparkled. I am very pleased with this system and John will give a really nice discount for SGF folks (Email him). Whatever system you all go for, good luck and enjoy ! !

Hulkss you're right. I started to just do an amp and get the Boom ll speakers but the Neodymium magnet material in the J&M's are supposed to be superior to regular magnet material plus the Amp's DSP is matched to their speakers. Whatever all that means may be greek to me but I know great sound when I hear it.

Thanks Mojo. I think I might go with that system when the time comes.

From what I'm hearing, it sounds like a good all around system.

IT IS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It sounds so good I can barely turn the volume up because it's so loud. Whether you use radio or iTunes its completely awesome. J&M even sends a USB stick with every conceivable type of music sample on it so you can get a true perspective of the dynamic range of this amp and speaker setup. Now I can understand why Spazz turned his on in the driveway and walked a half block away recording the sound at far distances. I am 110% floored by the difference in this and stock Boom series.

What I liked about John's kit is everything you can possible need is in it. For any of you "on the fence" and want a great system at a modest price, this kit (part # RXEX-250SP2-14SG) with John's SGF discount was $799 and was fun to install ! 5 Stars here ;)
Mojo, did you have a flash done? I've heard spazz talk about a magic box to bypass the flash. Just still undecided on what to do.

Today, just like every year around this time of the season in the northeast, I bought more parts for my bike. Spring will eventually come

chaderick- I did have the flash done according to the instructions in my J&M kit.

Well I tore into her pretty good yesterday and today. Dropped some chrome off at the powder coater. Planning on mounting the Fuel Moto stage 1 tomorrow. Need to stop by sears and pick up some 3/8 deep sockets and check out some torque wrenches. I've got an older 1/2 drive beam but thinking I should update it.
So let me ask you guys. My mufflers won't be back from the ceramic coater for a couple of weeks. I would like to hang the new head pipes in the mean time. Would it be OK to bolt them on and torque them down or should I wait until the mufflers get back and do a loose hang and line everything up first. What do you think?

Hey there Farmboy!
Sounds like your really getting after it! Of course you can't go wrong with new tool purchases. I've got 3/8" & 1/2" TQ wrenches and find they are both handy!
On previous pipe installations I found it beneficial to just snug things a bit and get everything lined up before tightening down. Just seemed to work better at the time and since you won't be riding w/o the muffs it won't hurt to let it sit. It sure is fun wrenching on the bikes. Good therapy!

Heads up Sears/Craftsman torque Wrenches are garbage. I have 2 of them that won't click when set at the lowest setting and my fat ass hanging from them and the warrantee is not life time.

Go to a pawn shop or check out CL for a good Snapon torque wrench. You might be able to buy one for less then a new crapsman.

Yeah I've heard that before on the craftsman torque wrenches. I'll check out some local pawn shops.

Yeah I was thinking a loose hang first was the way to go but after pulling a bunch of stuff I can't wait to put it back on.
patience Grasshopper.

No. I don't think there should be a gap like that between the lense and the trim ring- looks like the truck light needs to push in further.
Then again, I just googled pictures of Harley truck light, and many others have the same appearance as yours.... So, what do I know?

Yea I've been looking and looking at them also ... I've noticed that the 14's and up with the visor style trim ring fits flush, I think it's just the difference between the years cause if the faring is slightly different.

Harley sells an extended trim ring. headlamp-trim-ring

That's the one I have on it, I took it all apart again and it's fits better now one tab on the lite was not aligned, looks a little better now.
And in the pic I did not have it tightened down yet
