What system do you have? How do you like it?

I have FOBO Bike FOBOBIKE

Works great. I am not using it right now because I will not use it without metal valve stems to support the sensors. Better safe than sorry.

Like hulkss, I too use the FOBO system and I like it a lot. While I intend to have metal valve stems installed on my next tire change, I do not have them now and have had no issues with about 3500 miles ridden with them on.

It is really nice to know that my tires are at the pressures I like as soon as I get on my bike. I do have the habit of checking the actual pressure every month or six weeks and have found that these are very accurate.

Not only do I recommend FOBO on a regular basis, I just bought a set for my good friend who is just getting back into riding. Tire pressure is among the most important elements that keep us travelling on the road safely along with brakes and lighting in my estimation.

The one thing about the system I've found is that I needed to mount my phone in my field of view in case there are any alerts. If your tire pressure were to drop while riding, the phone gives an alarm and vibrates, neither of which help much when your phone is in your pocket while riding. It will also display on the phone, which is why I needed the phone in view.

One question. Do you have to get moving to check the pressure? Or can you check it before pulling the bike out and riding. I know some units you have to travel over 10mph to get a reading.

Doc_63, These sensors "Ping" the pressure about every minute or so. if you are within 30' of the sensors they will tell you what pressure you have, rolling or not. I have an updated pressure reading before I even get my helmet on.

Thanks a lot for you help. I always appreciate guys like you taking time to answer a few questions. I know which one to buy now.

I just like it when any of the generally useless knowledge I have bouncing around in my head can help someone...

But this thread does make me wonder, what other TPMS options are there out there?

And furthermore, why hasn't Harley figured out that this is something that would really help riders ride safely? Indians apparently have it now. Would be so nice to have it integrated in the Boom screen, just sayin'.

Harley did figure it out, it just will cost you 40k... because its only available on the CVO Street Glide.

Those Bastards!

Too rich for my blood... 30k was enough for me, after that, it's $100 FOBO all the way.

I do like the display though... Thanks for the heads up, Sal

Their site is a bit confusing - do you have to install the t shaped stems or can you mount these to the existing stock stems?

Baldman, I have them mounted right onto my existing stems. If you decide to go with T's to assist with filling I would definitely consider upgrading to metal stems. The only other thing to consider would be whether or not having a metal stem, a T, and the sensor would be enough to mess up the balance of the wheels...

Well, I should have listened. Riding at a little over 80mph on the Turnpike today and my rear tire pressure went flat. Things got real squirrelly, but I managed to keep the bike up and get over to the side. Rubber valve stem ripped almost completely off.

Sorry, posted before the story was over... Anyway, had to get towed off the turnpike, then another tow to the nearest Harley dealer 30 miles away. Thankfully, Ryder Insurance has Road Service and the second tow was free.

I had planned to have the metal stems installed with the new tire, but unfortunately they weren't in stock do i had to go with another rubber stem. Bummer indeed.

So, for now, I'm back to running without Fobo. Don't think I'll have someone take off the new tire to install new stems right now, so when I put on the next set of tires I'll make sure to pre order the metal stems.

Lesson learned.

I was all pumped with my FoBo system until 2 months out. They pooped out & quit working. Haven't used anything since.

Same thing happened to me....first the front stem went, so I had that replaced with another rubber stem...then the rear went so I put the "T" metal ones on....I would definitely recommend using the metal stems. I've also had to have both my sensors replaced...

Man, how sad. You put on that stuff to be more safe, and it ends up being much more dangerous.

I would bet that you can add tpms to any Rushmore with the addition of the tpms hardware and a dealership that will flash a nonCVO bike with the CVO tune

A good tire additive should solve the balance issue (if there is any) I use Ride On additive in all my tires. Its sensor friendly and keeps your tires dynamically balanced all the time.

I’m in need of a new rear tire due to a big effing screw and want to add the Fobo system at the same time. I am looking online at the T-valve and it says it requires a rim valve hole of 11.3 mm or 8.3 mm. Can someone please confirm that a stock rim for a 2915 FLHXS has one of those two sizes?

Thanks. Ride safe.

P.S. I’ve decided to try the Michelin Commander II for the rear replacement.
