2014 street glide problem

So to be on the safe side....... anytime you do any work that's electrical related you should pull the 50 amp fuse?

Yes...if you have security... turn ign to ON and pull immediately

2014 street glide problem

So I had this same issue with 15' SG. No security, all stock.. Only I rode it a couple times after the install, even out of town and back home. Parked it, the bike sat from that Sunday till today 5 days later. I've replaced ALL the fuses, got the battery checked, and everything.. Still no luck. Anything I may have missed? I even replaced the relay. Thanks in advance.!

Are you getting anything when turning the ignition on?

Same as the original post. No gauges, hand controls or radio.. Only lights front and back but no control of them.

I can prime the engine, but that's it. Still no gauges or anything to allow me to turn over the engine.

The only thing that comes to my mind is those mini fuses behind the side cover. One of them is a large maxi fuse that is viewable when side cover is removed, the other fuses cannot been seen without the that little square cover removed behind the left side cover. If that isn't it and all fuses are in good shape I would check all of the switch housing harnesses. HD calls them "jumper harness" they are very easy to pinch when swapping out bars. Good luck and keep us posted.

yeah I'm wondering because I did the install and rode the bike twice. Even out of town over night and back and it just sat. Only time I've touched it since is to adjust the hand grip on the clutch side so that it sat in the proper position. I'm taking that apart today after work to see if I did anything, but I wouldn't understand how that one part would effect everything, to include the right controls. I"ll see what happens this evening. I'm under warranty, but not sure how HD will act when they see the aps and know that they didn't do the install. Probably try to stick me with a bill.

Can't be certain and maybe someone else can chime in to be sure, but the hand controls are what they call can bus system. So one side being clipped or broke will affect both sides. I know It did on mine.

I have just replaced my bars, I had a myriad of learning experiences. I will share, you see if it helps.

1. under the seat, there two connector sets (grey and black in color) that must get reconnected when reconnecting your battery. my black connector set fell below the frame rail when removing the ECM tray. I forgot I disconnected 2 connectors....lol. it effected the dash lights.

2. crushed wire harness on left with clutch handle mount, clamp halves, wire harness not sitting in that sweet spot groove.

3. see number 2 above, I did the same to right side.

4. if TBW is damaged, one side effect is cruise control will engage with a green indicator, but will not set speed, part of safe mode operation. so left and right side controls do function together or atleast monitor.

5. a lot of low voltage (amps) variances that are changing in the handle bar harness assembly during operation of the bike, with throttle twist. a flat spot in a wire, a broken wire shielding, or a small slip of a connector pin in a plug. can cause those issues.

I recommend looking everything over, touch connectors make sure they are seated, disconnect battery cables, when doing tear down. make sure handle bar wiring bundles have some free movement, and not pulling tightly and connection points (mainly inner fairing area).

I believe power enters at the tray inside the lower inner fairing, where the two left side controls plugs get connected as well as the right side. re-check all connectors in that tray area.

green connector in the TBW got me, on removal from the OEM bars.

hope this helps.

Talked to HD today and sounds as if though I may have pinched something on the controls. Going home early to see if I can figure it out before having to purchase a whole new set of modules and can cables. I'm so irritated with myself if that's the case. I"ll let you know.

Dan, thanks so much for the reply brother, that's exactly what I'm going to do today after work. Just tear it down and recheck it all. I did get the can cable extensions with the bars for the install, but they were pretty long and really in the end realized I didn't need them. I'm thinking my hand controls is where I went wrong after my trip when I adjusted them and reseated them. Pinched something like you did I'm thinking. Did you have to buy all new controls? Or where you able to just reseat the cables? Thanks again for the input.

I had to disconnect the two connector ends in side the controller, remove the wire from the controller, use a razor and cut the shielding back (carefully) around the wire to expose each wire to inspect. new wire harness was $36.99 approx. so one side I smashed pretty good, opt to replace now rather later on, I could have done a solder repair and shrink wrap over the damaged shielding, but I have literally tore down and reassembled about 12 times in trouble shooting. But I refused to pay HD to do my install for 900 bucks, despite my learning curve, im still ahead of the money game, and Im learning my bike.

Exactly! I would much rather learn it myself also. I know my limits and I know this something I'll be able to do on my own before paying HD. I was apart of a similar forum for my old BMW m3 and a site like this one really helped a lot. Seems to be much of the same on this one I accidentally stumbled on this weekend. Best thing I found yet. Thanks for you lessons learned, I will defiantly refer to these posts. I'll let you know the updates.

Good luck with it, a lot of smart and helpful folks on this site. let us know the outcome.
