Hi just got my new 2015 flhxs and was looking at slip ons for it. I want a nice deep sound mellow at cruise to hear the radio but also want it to sound good when I get on it and have a nice deep sound at idle
I will be keeping my stock head pipe w cat and I will be eventually change the air intake and a stage 1 download.
I do not want to lose any low end power
I was looking at the rush big Louie with 3" baffle which is what they recommend with stock head pipe and cat. Just don't want to loose low end.
Any ideas please let me know
Thanks

Cfr's, i have had my bike up to 90 mph on the interstate and i can still hear the music, the key to that is having a good windshield.

A taller windshield will make a huge difference in so many ways.

Yes on the windshield. And there are lots of choices for replacement windshields out there. As far as exhaust same thing way too many choices so go listen to some in person as the videos do them no justice for real sound. Nice thing about the windshields is you can test ride with them before purchase.

Good luck in your search

I have the Rush Big Louie with 3" baffles on mine, it sounds good, but I wish it was louder.

I went for the Jekyll and Hyde adjustable slipons with the screaming eagle airfilter. Nice deep sound. Sounds deeper than the screaming eagle. You can adjust the baffle from 'silent' to fully opened. So you can adjust the Harley growl to the sound of your music.

My new Glide has RC Component 4in slips
I have the black ones and have the black heat shields on the stock header/with CAT
I can hear my tunes just fine but the bike has a really nice sound
They offer some really bad axx tips that really balance the all black system

I just ordered a set of Freedom Performance slip-ons...Hopefully I will get to put them on tomorrow and let you know how it sounds.

Pipes installed...Sounds nice and deep not real loud, no problems hearing the radio at 85-90 mph.

Just the pipes? No other mods needed?

If you are just doing slip-on's you shouldn't have to make any other changes. If you decide to change the intake or remove the cats then you will have to change the fuel mapping because it will be running way to lean.

SE Street Canons here and I'm very happy with them........have a little "Bark" when you get on it but not obnoxious when running down the highway.....just a nice low rumble. If you want "Super Loud" you will likely not get there with slip-ons alone.

I went with Vance & Hines 4.5" HO rounded slip-ons. They are great. Gives you a deep throaty roar but not overbearing so you can't here the radio. They also fill in the underside of the saddlebags nicely and look even better on the bike. I put mine on as soon as I got my bike to get 20% off. Still a bit pricey at $695.00 installed by dealer( for warranty protection). I am glad I chose those slip-ons. No need to remap because they are slip ons only On deceleration you will get some "popping" or slight backfiring which doesn't bother me. Remapping would curtail that but not for another $300-400 dollars expense in addition to the slip-ons. prices.

Want it louder and keep the same Slip ons? Remove your Cat, that alone will make it louder.

You want it louder? Just removing your Cat will make it louder. Better yet, try a aftermarket headpipe like Power Duals or 2 into 1's. If you do that you will need to do some AFR remapping for sure.
